It never bothered me - the fake outrage over it is actually hilarious at times. You can turn it off, or if it bugs you that bad, buy a device that disables it. Moving along now....

i’ve had a vehicle roll down a hill because the parking brake wasn’t sufficient.I only park in gear when on a steep incline, as an added safety factor. Otherwise if parked in gear and someone hits/bumps you, the transmission can potentially get damaged. Especially city parallel parking, I've seen people banging other vehicles when trying to park. I'd rather only the brakes take the hit.
Had a friend from NYC who said they called tapping bumpers while parking "love taps".Agreed if there is a risk of rolling. Otherwise no, living in Chicago, I've seen things, lol
Edmund’s looked into that a while back and tested 3 ICE cars (not hybrids) that had AS/S on their test loop and saw ~10% fuel savings on their urban drive cycle in Orange county CA. Engineers they talked to also said the savings are typically 3-10%, which depends on how much time you drive on highway etc.
AAA also did a study of AS/S on three cars and drove EPA’s Urban test cycle and saw 7% savings with AS/S feature
Oak Ridge Nat’l Labs at Univ. Tennessee published an SAE International paper after running tests on the Federal city fuel economy test cycle and the EPA NYC test cycle and saw fuel economy savings of over 7% snd over 25% respectively.
So it has been proven to save fuel, and it reduces emissions, tho how much savings depends on the vehicle and driving conditions. Also as @Ducati1098 pointed out, Ford did reengineer parts for AS/S, and i know durability test procedures were revised for it.
Still, the fact also remains that a lot of people just don’t like it and don’t like that it is always enabled by default.
Frustrating thing with an inline device is pulling the console apart. Increases risks of breakage and forces people to pay extra to disable an irritant. It never bothered me - the fake outrage over it is actually hilarious at times. Who cares, just disable it yourself through Forscan or the little piggyback part... I've done it to both our Bronco's and the Ranger when we had it...With today’s deregulation in the EPA that lead the automaker’s implementation of the Auto Start/Stop feature, wonder if Dealers will begin disabling it upon request?
It had nothing to do with an update. I’m pretty sure it simply goes off build date (or something similar)To those writing that the Ford Performance Tune turns off ASS, I thought that ability was removed during an update. Did you not get the update (i know a bunch of people tried to stop any updates) to the tune or am I mistaken? I would love to turn it off on my 2024 WT.
How very "social" of you to demand that others pay for it and/or disable it for you, especially when you already have a button that can disable it for your driving session. Did you want someone to stop by and push the button every time you got in your Bronco?Ok send me $50, then for my part I'll squelch the so called "outrage".
Although I'd rather you send me $100 for the better kit that doesn't work off the OBD port, and while your at it stop by to take apart the dash and install it.
I would love that, they should also be an ex EPA employee. How very "social" of you to demand that others pay for it and/or disable it for you, especially when you already have a button that can disable it for your driving session.
