Engine Smells and Smoking 3 miles In

The exhaust is most likely the source. Probably has some sort of oil on it. Should go away fairly quickly unless you have an issue.

Potentially normal. Could just be burning off oils on the outside of the motor. Pop the hood and have a look around when it is running and see where it is coming from and pay attention to the exhaust manifolds.

This is normal. Just a combination of oils, plastics and also detailing/cleaning solution used on a brand new vehicle never really ran before. I picked mine up earlier this week and it did this as well when I saw the smoke from the hood after driving 150 miles. If you are concern, follow your break-in period and you can monitor your engine and transmission temperature in the gauges.

Yeah quite normal if it’s new. Happened to mine too , it kept happening for like around a week especially on cold starts and it just went away after that.

Hey everyone, well after 924 days I have my Truck, picked it up with 8 miles on it, the dealer added tow package and upgraded bumper, along with the console safe. Drove 4 miles and burnt wiring smell was coming from under the hood, by the time I opened the hood, no more smoke, no wiring appeared to be fried, WTF...

Took it back to the dealer for another QA/QC so I guess it will be 925 days from order to my home... I read the above posts, I know what oil smells like and was an electronic tech, I have fried enough wiring to know what that is as well, it still was in the passenger cab an hour later any thoughts???

What did the dealer say? Did it go away? I just got mine and it has that strong burning oil smell - mine is a manual - hopefully I am not burning out the clutch

Yep went away after 200 + miles, "Burn in" wtf.. 2000 miles later...

Ditto on ours. Not sure when it went away as wife drives it, but it went away.

Now all we get is the hair perm smell when you overload the cats on fast acceleration.

Normal for new cars. One of my cars had a smell for a month+.

Mine smelled like burning rubber for awhile. I also noticed it went away when I took it out of 4A. 5k miles now and no smells
