I took delivery of a Bandlands with manual trans right after T-day. The odometer is just turning 500 and I suddenly noticed a "scratchy chatter" coming from the engine compartment, above the usual throaty hum. It's not terribly loud, but it is definitely a new addition. Hard to hear it from the front grill so it's been impossible to triangulate the source. But seems to be most present outside by the windshield, around the firewall. Feels like something is either kicking around loose or sitting where it shouldn't be. With all of the stories of sloppy builds I'm concerned its more than just an annoying noise.

Sound familiar to anyone? No warning lights have kicked in. I've hesitated taking on the highway since it started, so I don't know if it will ramp up at extended higher revs. I'll need to highway my way over to the dealer tomorrow, so that question will soon be answered. I thought I'd throw it out to the group tonight, in case the description strikes a bell with anyone. Thanks for any thoughts!

Thanks. I was deep into reading this thread after posting, Herbie. I hadn't considered a tranny issue so didn't open it earlier. It is not the grinding sounds recorded by some. But others describe theirs as "chatter" and I wonder if there are a few issues being reported separately. I am up to page 6 and wonder how the story(s) ends...
I have had a BL with MT for almost 9 months now and fortunately have not had any of the issues fellow MT forum members are having. Spoiler alert, no solution yet. I'm glad to hear yours is not that, and I hope it is nothing that is a big deal. Enjoy the ride, it is an awesome vehicle.
