Car Shipping Recommendations

Anyone have any recommendations for car transport/shipping?

We use Reliable exclusively. They may be a bit more expensive, but IMHO they are the best in the business. If you go to the last day of any Concours event and you'll see a line of the orange Reliable rigs waiting to pick up the show cars. The OEMs use them as well to ship their vehicles to various events. They also shipped my Roush from Tampa to the metro Detroit area when I purchased it.

Sure you can risk it with a guy in his pickup truck and a trailer for much less and you may be OK, but to save a few hundred bucks when shipping a vehicle in which you have invested multiples of tens of thousands, it is worth the peace of mind.

I’m “nearby” OP in Houston and I ship a few times a year. These guys have given me the least problems but it’s always a crapshoot on what driver you get from the dispatch company, and dispatch in my experience has very little control over them once they are on the road - so get the driver number ASAP. Even premium dispatch services I’ve used, I’ve felt my vehicle was safe but coordinating pickup and drop is usually a challenge due to the driver mentality, workload, personal issues, etc. - it gets worse every year.

Thx. I have submitted a request for Reliable and Horseless Carriage and Ply Car. For some reason Ply Car said the Braptor was too big for them

Have shipped multiple cars wit this carrier, and many members on the porsche forum i am on use them as well. I shipped my braptor with them and they got it from the dealership on the east coast to me in california extremely fast.

I do know some people who have used Ply Car. I haven't heard of any issues.

Not surprised. From what I’ve seen, they use smaller trailers.

Reliable has semi trailer tractor haulers that they can use for larger vehicles.

I agree. But these are double deck trailers. If they can’t adjust the height, it might be a problem.

Unless they can’t accommodate the width.

How far away is it? Why not just go get it? I've done that before and a few years back, that seemed to be fairly common as loads of people got the Brono deal they wanted in Iowa.

A shipper may be concerned with the vehicle's width in this case, not necessarily the length or height. A Bronco Raptor's overall width is not the same width as a Bronco's.

We bought our Bronco Raptor in North Dakota and had it shipped to Arizona. Reliable’s bid was about $5k. Most of the smaller haulers trailers aren’t wide enough for the Raptor. We ended up going open carrier for $1400 with no issues. Once you request a bid online, you will get bombarded from a bunch of companies promising you they are the best. I think about 90% of them just post your vehicle on a national hotline board for independent haulers to accept the job from the shipping broker.

Yea I used to have a broker I worked with, but it appears that more and more everything gets passed down to Ukrainians on the far end of the line and so I am now looking at the big carriers instead. I filled out requests directly with 4 carriers and haven't got bombarded yet and got a good price for open with Horseless Carriage
