Though about posting in "Trip Reports" as we were making the trek over to the big city (pop 15K)

Well this is what happened to me today. while taking my wife to the dentist.

Idiot (the guy in the picture) made a left turn in front of me (and another vehicle) at a traffic light controlled intersection as we were passing through it. Other vehicle was just far enough back that they avoided it but stopped to provide a witness statement.

We are ok but being legally blind my wife couldn't see it coming so didn't brace and got beat up by the seatbelt pretty hard.
Air bags didn't deploy as it was a glancing blow.

Cops/EMS/Fire responded super fast (literally minutes) and ended up citing the other driver.

The car wasn't even the other driver's and they just fucked over the friend that let them use the car. Driver had no insurance but unknown about the vehicle's owner. So mine quickly stepped up

Good insurance helps. They set up the repair shop already and got us into a rental in just a few hours. After the rental place (there's only ONE out here) said they had nothing available until Friday

Possibly totaled, as when I went to tow yard to get my things we saw the passenger side frame was shoved into the tire on that side. We had to use quite a bit of force to open my wife's door to get her out at the scene. Looks like entire front of Bronco has been shifted towards passenger side of vehicle.

Glad everyone is OK. Too bad about your Bronco -- even if not totaled it will never be the same.

I'm told that NOT bracing for an accident actually leads to fewer injuries -- I hope that's the case for your wife.

Yeah I'm torn between hoping its fixed but never right as you say and hoping its totaled. But then I have to search for a replacement 2 door V6.

No the seat belt bruised her up pretty good. Doesn't seem to have any other injuries from it.

As for myself (that braced) I have nothing.

Sorry about your Bronco. Hope your wife will be OK.

Show Low sure has changed. That intersection didn't exist when I lived there.

Just thought about it, the whole time multiple cops, EMTs and Fire are processing the scene I'm standing there with an open carry pistol on my hip and not a word was said about it. Then the cop gave my wife and I a ride to the rental place in her cruiser.

Man I LOVE Arizona.

Looking at the first pic of the at fault vehicle again it seems I might have driven over him during the crash

They didn't say anything because they expect you to have a gun. Most of them carry when off duty.

Was just pointing out how different that reaction was from how cops in most other states would have handled it.

Steve, sorry to hear about your Bronco, glad that you and your wife are ok, hope she is not bruised up too bad. Yep you will need to do a little searching to find a 2 door V6.

Sorry about your Bronco, I'm glad you are both ok. We have a 2-door V-6 and hope we never have to replace it.
BTW is that a "man purse" that guy has on?

Yeah, I can imagine that you'd be hauled in at fault because you DARED to have a weapon in some places. (Or if the other one claimed you used a racial slur - but that can just as easily be fatal).
