Those vinyls are brutal in the summer, I put cabbie beads on my seat so I can topless without sweating
Lack of a cloth option (outside the HE, which isn't my cup of tea) is one thing keeping me from buying. I've seen enough of MGV in boats to know I don't want it in a topless vehicle. Too hot, propensity to crack, etc.

On topic, the interiors of the BB and BD are pretty close to being the same outside of color. Kind of surprising both trims force you into MGV, which is kind of dumb on Ford's part.

Black Diamond has rock rails, bash plates, fuel tank skid. Your getting your money's worth for mild off roading. If your leaving it stock the tires are a substantial upgrade over the Big Bend.

Cosmetical I like the wheels and grill more.
100% did Texas off rodeo this weekend and learned a lot about my Bd 2023 capabilities. Specially for a city slicker that likes a little trial on the side. Perfect choice for me, BD all of the above mentioned added features for the $. Granted now I wished I had More practical knowledge when I bought Her. Could have should have etc .. all and all my side chick bronco BD rocks !!!

My long story short is I currently have a 2017 Mazda Miata I am looking to part ways with. Have had some back problems that have made it harder to get in and out of more recently.

I looked at broncos when they first came out but availability was so out of wack I decided to hold off. I’m looking at doing something before winter now. I noticed ford has changed a lot with the packages and there seems to be a much smaller gap between these two trims now.

This will be a daily driver and very light off-roading. No rock crawling plans.

I was originally looking at the black diamond for the marine grade vinyl seats. But now those are standard on the big bend.

It looks like the mid grade package is no longer available on the black diamond with a M/T (at least according to the build and price) But it is available on the Big Bend with M/T

So I’d be putting the heavy duty modular bumper on both so the standard bumper has no bearing on which one I pic.

Not doing Sasquatch on either and would add rear locker to the bend.

It’s a decent monthly difference between the two and as far as I can tell I’m only losing out on the washout floor on the black diamond? Is there something else I’d be missing or should consider?

edit *
Yes I am planning to get the auxiliary switches from the factory. I like that the wiring is already ran. Forgot to mention that.

my only must have out of the mid package really was the heated seats because I live in Minnesota. I just found out the ford dealership here can install that for 600 which really negates that need now.

for the axel u was gonna do the 4.46. 4.7 requires Sasquatch. Not concerned about gas mileage….i know what I’m getting myself into in that regard for this vehicle 😂

I am leaning towards a 2 door bronco vs the 4 door.

Does the blackdiamond still come with the molle seats? Did they change this on the Big Bend. That is another thing I am interested in as I have a bunch of molle bags I wanted to use.

I appreciate any input. Thanks!
Biggest difference is the tires. I switched to a BD because of the mgv(at the time before the switch) and the tires, steel bumpers, and black steelies. It’s the tires and wheels-if it matters to you.

Yes one's the BD is plastic:

"Hey all. I've done some searching but couldn't find the answer to this specific question, so forgive me if it's already been asked.
.......
What I can't seem to tell is if the rear bumper is also steel? I believe the 2021 Black Diamond came standard with a steel rear bumper, but it is hard to tell in person as it seems to have a plastic cover, and I do not see anything about the rear bumper listed in my vehicle options. Does anyone know if the 2022 Black Diamonds still come standard equipped with a rear steel bumper?"

I was also heavily considering the Black Diamond vs. Big Bend. The deciding factor for me was the ability to add the signature lights, as I really liked the look. I ended up adding a rear locker to my order & added the metal skid plates (including transfer case) a la carte after I took delivery.

One thing I wasn't a big fan of on the Big Bend was the grille and anemic looking OEM tires. Both of which are easily replaced.
Yep! First mod I made was the Black Diamond grill. I did get the SAS package and I paid extra for the signature headlights. I knew I was going with aftermarket bumper, so BD didn't make sense to me. And the 12" info screen is standard on all models now. Huge win.

Yes my 2024 BD came std with steel rear bumper. Has molded plastic cover on top. When I upgrade I’ll sell it to you lol.
Also came std with 4:46 gearing and rear locker and aux switches. All skid plates except transmission. Rock rails. Marine grade vinyl and wash out flooring. Bought mid package to get fancy touch unlock remote start and dual climate control. We actually use remote start a bunch because it’s 100* here.

I was surprised to really only see this mentioned once before, the Grabber tires on the BD are snow peak rated and significantly more aggressive, and ready to go from the factory. You will likely want to update the BB tires.

Ford’s cloth looks cheap at best. And they changed the option because 99 percent of folks want leather or MGV.

Looks like the only way to get the automatic 4x4 is to upgrade to the squach package which really is more than I want to spend.
Yep, thanks for memory jog. I didn't want to spend the 5k just for the advanced 4x4....I do love my BD, great tires, seats...

It was a bad typo.......
Here's the thing though, the OP is getting a 2-door, manual, and getting the mod bumper either way.
So his BB will have the same gearing, will have the same front bumper, front bash plate, the gas tank skid plate, MGV seats, (possibly washout floors), remote start through phone...
So after optioning the $300 switches, and buying the transfer skid for $50 what's he missing for $3500 in saving?
-engine skid
-sliders that are all over marketplace from free to $100
-tires
-and a steel rear bumper that is remarkably unremarkable.

Excepting the OBX, I would agree, but I absolutely love the Roast cloth seats.

No argument from me. When I optioned different platforms back in 2021 the BD was a better deal for what I wanted because you couldn’t option different gearing and lockers in non-SAS Base and BB. Some of that changed later and I was un aware or I may have done a different build for my 2024 to start. I was way against cloth seats and carpet. Mostly because the ford cloth I’ve seen doesn’t wear well, and I wanted wash out floors.

Those BD tires do have a pretty nice tread pattern. Only reason I changed them was to go to 35’s for ground clearance.

I have been very happy so far, in 35,000km hardly any treadwear

I want to go to 33s but I feel like I should run this longer as they were one of the reasons I decided to pick the BD

Well if nothing else, if I get in the truck with a little grease on me (happens) leather and vinyl is less likely to stain permanently.
