I have auto headlights and brights and most of the time they work great, especially the brights. However, when the sun is almost setting or rising (golden hour) and there are shadows like tall trees and hills, the auto headlight sensor seems hypersensitive and goes back and fourth constantly (like every 10 seconds). This dims the brightness of my screens to the point where it can get hard to read the speedometer in the harsh light.

Is there a way to decrease the sensitivity of the sensor w/ forescan or something? Can you program it to start with manual instead of auto when starting the car?

I have a 22 Wildtrak and about a month ago my auto headlights became very sensitive. Basically what you are describing. I suspect but cannot confirm a s/w update caused this problem. I have found no way to adjust the sensitivity, either.

There are clear ambient light sensor covers for those with tinted windows - for someone without a deep tint, this might push your automatic headlight activation a little further into the dark and offset (if not avoid) the auto oscillation issue.
There is an "autolamp delay" in the settings but it seems to only control how long the headlights stay on when the vehicle is turned off.

You could just cover the sensor on the dash during that time of day.

I disabled in setting because manual bright engagement was cumbersome.

I haven't found a good answer.

For the record, the auto-dimming of interior lights/backlighting on the screens is different from Auto High Beam

My Auto High Beams work fairly well in rural areas. A little more glitchy if I'm in town with lots of street lights and store lights and such.

My interior lights though - they brighten/dim with no delay, and no gradient - they just turn up or down in very distinct and noticeable steps, so even something like just driving in the shadow of a tree will set them off. One of my small pet peeves with the vehicle. And yeah, at dusk it's really annoying...

Not sure if you can turn off auto-dimming or not, I should look into that too. Covering the dash sensor as previously recommended sounds like it would work as a manual work around, I admit I haven't tried it yet though, but now it's on my list.
