Does anyone have this problem? I lock the car and it randomly triggers the alarm after 20 seconds. It’s not consistent. Few times per week.

I took it to the dealer and they said the key fob triggered it 16x recently. That’s what the data shows, but that’s not really accurate since I glued the panic button so you can’t press it by accident.

Something is triggering it. I do have the Perimeter alarm installed and put it in the weakest setting to see if that helped. Nope.

So frustrating.

You may already know this, but 20 seconds is the wait time before the perimeter alarm is armed. So for some reason it is activating immediately.

Did you install the perimeter alarm module or the dealer?

Did the problem just start out of the blue or after some other modification(s)?

If the dealer suggests it is keyfob related, one way to disprove this is to place them in faraday bags. If it is still going off after 20 seconds, then the tech should be doing more troubleshooting, like swapping out the perimeter alarm module. I just tried using a faraday bag to see if blocked the button presses (in addition to just passive unlock) and it did stop the keyfob signal.

When you adjusted it to the weakest setting, did you turn the sensitivity dial in the proper direction (and then try it all the way in the other direction just to check)?

Did you install the perimeter alarm module or the dealer? I did by follow the directions I probably got from this site.

Did the problem just start out of the blue or after some other modification(s)? I can’t say if it happened before I installed the perimeter alarm. I only noticed afterwards and at first just thought it was the key in my pocket causing it.

If it is still going off after 20 seconds, then the tech should be doing more troubleshooting, like swapping out the perimeter alarm module. They could do a lot, but they said they would charge me hours, so I’m trying to troubleshoot on my own for now. Usually I’m far away from the car when it goes off though. Like 20 seconds walking away distance.

When you adjusted it to the weakest setting, did you turn the sensitivity dial in the proper direction (and then try it all the way in the other direction just to check)? Did counter clockwise.

My mom’s Kia actually has this exact issue, and they are considering it a lemon because the dealerships can’t figure it out

It happens with my other key too.
And you are positive the glued key is out of range and couldn’t be triggering?

Not accusing you of anything, just usually the simplest answer is often at least on the right path, and dealer did say Keyfob

My Bronco started honking randomly one day. The Fordpass alert said the hood was opened, triggering the alarm. It hasn't happened since so I never looked into further. I may need to mention this to the dealer next time I'm there.

Positive. I was at a store with one key.

I mentioned it, but they said the key fob triggered it, but it’s not since it happens with both fobs.

For what it's worth, just want to acknowledge you are not alone. I was experiencing the same thing, usually after having an oil change or after just opening the hood.
Hours later or even days later, the alarm would go off and I'd get a message the hood was ajar.

I checked around looking for the hood sensor assuming it got knocked around or something, but didn't see anything out of place or broken.

Anyway, I took my Bronco to my dealer this week for other warranty work and just mentioned the occurrence of the alarm sounding and getting message hood was ajar even though I know it's closed. Since this has happened on more than one occasion I wanted it looked into.

When I checked in on progress of the work, they told me they would be changing out the hood latch. When I pick up later this week, I will dig a little deeper and find out if they confirmed the fault.

I'll update this post with any details they provide into this random hood ajar warnings.

The hood alarm started happening to me today. Twice while parked, and once while driving. I’ll be interested to hear what anyone finds out. I haven’t been under the hood in a couple weeks. I did drive around in heavy rain over the last 36 hours. Nothing I’m seeing appears like a loose or bad connection.
