So ~5 years is enough to establish that?Neither one affects reliability
They’ve been out for 10 years in ecoboost engines with zero issues. The design is literally no differentSo ~5 years is enough to establish that?
Time will tell I guess. 17-20 were the worst years for oil consumptionThe 5.0 in my 2012 GT burned about a quart between changes. I think that was the first gen Coyote. Ford likely resolved the issue (current is 4th gen?). Hopefully the hapless MT-82 trans issues were fixed, too.
My oj Bronco came with a 5.0 in 93 and i sold it to a friend with 43k. A few years ago he offered it back to me because he couldn't sell it. I asked him why and he said he guessed cause of the 450,000 miles on it. He had meticulously cared for the Bronco and it looked good. He said the engine was untoched that he has used all synthetic oils, lubes like i had suggested. Yep. I would say the 5.0 is a good engineBig fan of the Coyote engine, but I wouldn't say the 2.7/3.0 is less reliable from my personal experience.
Back before my Bronco journey began I had considered buying a base and swapping in the twin turbo coyote out of my F-150 into it, but ultimately decided against it.
I daily drove that thing for years and ran Rocky Mountain Race Week one year. I still itch for another single cab boosted 5.0 truck.
What kind oil weight did u use? Ford recommended 5w,20 first and issues with timing chain slap and oil consumption started showing. The 5.0 in my 2012 GT burned about a quart between changes.
