I have a friend that replaces windshields for a living. He said he replaces Gorilla glass all the time. I have ExoShield and am a true believer. I’ve been popped numerous times in the 5 months I’ve had my Bronco. No chips or cracks.

Just out of curiosity, @Rdavis are you still at stock height? Lifted? Leveled? Both? I wonder if leveling alters the overall windshield angle enough from less vertical so rocks can graze off.

Best explanation I've heard yet for some people putting on a Carolina squat.

Oh shit, I retract my hypothesis. Squatting increases the risk of taking rocks and dicks to the face.

@Ford Motor Company You should work with Corning like jeep did and offer gorilla glass as an option. 595.00 on the wrangler I think. Also weird that the cracks are always vertical. All the regular glass wrangler cracks run horizontal. 🤷🏻‍♂️
When mine cracked, it went vertical over the course of a few months. Soon after, went all the way across the bottom instantly.
Made a fun noise when it went.

That’s a lot of air fresheners you got. Whatever stinks so bad in your bronco might be a bigger concern than cracked glass.
Everyone is assuming the impact is coming from outside the vehicle. Maybe it’s just the blunt force of all those air fresheners slapping against the windshield.

Are these coming from rock chips? I assume frame stress has been eliminated as a source? I would be very suspicious if the cracks are developing in the same way and in the same general area. Just throwing it out there.

Why would a new car need “New Car Scent”? 🤔

Thinking the same thing. Could be excess body/frame flex. Twisting would be my guess.

If there was a frame flex issue you’d be hearing about a lot more people on their 4th windshield. I’m guessing driver habits of some sort (not saying fault necessarily). Looking at road types, following distances, etc.

I think it's a combination of both.
The weight of the pine tree fresheners is pre loading the windshield, putting it under stress. All the stress is centered around the mirror mount, creating a stress riser and preloading the windshield at which point, all it takes is a little thwap from a pebble and POW ... shattered glass.

How much does that cost?
