As a previous Jeep YJ/TJ/JL owner I've been through a few windshields - its the nature of the beast.
That said, modern vehicles use lighter glass to save weight. When my JL was new the passenger side hardtop window had a vertical crack. Odd I thought for being as new as it was - and who breaks a side window? I filed a claim with FCA to no avail and replaced the window. I had an identical crack about 3 months later and I was convinced there was a vehicle problem. All level of internet search and crazy theories aside the glass guy confirmed it was impact damage based on a teeny tiny chip - barely visible. I was unconvinced. Right about the time I found the third cracked window I realized the new neighbor across the street liked to run his push mower over a weed covered gravel parking area. He is an idiot, but its his rock pile and his mower. I moved the Jeep to a different parking spot and never replaced another window. Ironically there was zero paint damage - just window breakage.

I just called an installer near me and they told me they stopped installing windshield protection film (they did not specifically say exoshield) because they have yet to find a product that holds up over time and too many people are bringing their vehicles back a year or two later demanding new windshields because the visibility is so poor with the windshield film on them. Is Exoshield different? Has anyone used it for greater than 2 years without issue? Video above was really informative.

Hah, does waxing your windshield actually make it prone to breaking? I've never heard of that (or waxing your windshield for that matter)
