4A maybe nominal, but sports mode is not.

Nothing like screaming at 3,000 RPM while you're doing just 40 mph down a city street for gas mileage!
You might be surprised, but the 2.3 EcoBoost has peak efficiency between 2K and 4K rpm!

You cant start the truck in sport automatically, but if I had it in sport and turned it off. Then came back and turned the truck back on, I get a message on the screen asking if I want to go back to sport. I just hit yes on the steering wheel and it kicks back into sport. But it also puts it into 4h even if I had it in 2h with sport on.

So yes and no...lol

I get better mileage in sport mode.
Doubt. Unless you do a lot of highway driving where it doesn't matter or have a manual.

I am used to AWD in my WRX, my wife swears by it in her crossover.

Have had a lot of rain, I will have to test out 4A in my Bronco and Silverado.
I am hoping that it will help for highway driving in heavy rain.

I left it in 4A all winter and didn't notice any significant drop in mileage. I stick to 2A otherwise unless off-road.

My completely uneducated thought is that I'm saving the clutches for where I need them most.

Wife's Bronco Sport just sits in 4A all the time, I don't even know if you can put that in 2H. So did her "4WD" Explorer.

They both would happily switch between primarily FWD or RWD depending on the GOAT mode you have it in.

Now that's a different vehicle and transmission all together, but similar technology.

4A is basically AWD.

On dry paved roads?
No.

I am on snow covered roads about 6 months of the year, my village averages over 500 inches of snow per year.

(that’s over 40 feet of snow per year)

I just put it in 4H and drive whatever speed I want. IMHO winter tires are a far better investment than spending the money on 4A.
