I'd wait it out and replace a couple months before warranty runs out. Good chance that if you replace it now, it's just going to crack again and you'll be doing the whole process over. I literally waited until the last week of my warranty and they did (eventually, it's a long story) replace. That said, I would have gone in a couple weeks sooner to avoid some of the headache I had.

Don’t wait — start the process now, because you might have to do it again and again. My 2-door has already been through three hardtop replacements.

I'm on my 3rd top and with 6 months left on the 3/36 it has cracking as well. Waiting until the last moment just gets Ford out of any warranty claims when the new top starts cracking when the 3/36 runs out.

How common is this issue and is it specific to certain years, or all Bronco hardtops?
Very common. I'd say it happens more often than not to those who have a MIC top. Pay attentions to areas around the windows as well as where panels join.

Don't wait. They will at least replace that portion of the top and you will have evidence that the whole thing could be compromised. I can't believe there isn't a class action suit yet.

You guys that are getting warranted tops replaced 2,3,4 times....I don't understand your logic of, do it now? Why go thru the process multiple times vs once? 🤔 Especially for a cosmetic issue?

So what happens to the old MIC tops when these get replaced under warranty?

Do they just destroy/trash it at the dealer?

Does anyone know if warrantied tops aren't destroyed but repaired as later " refurbished" replacement items? A fairly common practice...

Do it now. I waited until my warranty was almost up to have mine changed out, then the replacement top started cracking less than 6 months later and ford will not warranty it because it is no longer under the 3/36. Warranty the top as many times as possible, it might improve your chances at getting a good top. Also if you made the mistake of purchasing the extended warranty, don't think that it will cover the roof. I was informed the extended warranty doesn't cover the roof because the roof is "considered trim" and the extended warranty doesn't cover trim.

The dealer is supposed to scrap them. Ford doesn’t want them back, too expensive to ship. If it was feasible to fix them, Ford would fix them rather than replace them.

I’ve seen a few on OfferUp that clearly an employee took and went to sell. You can tell because all the windows are removed and no good enough pictures to see any cracks. That cant be legal.

Sure it can (be legal), as long as they aren't stolen. I'm pretty sure it's up to Ford to dispose of them and/or discipline employees not following their policies.

That could get a dealer a big warranty charge back, and maybe more than that.

Well Ford would definitely approve of your logic but I want a history of the defective items and hopefully get a good top before my warranty runs out. Also when did cracks in a vehicle top that supposed to keep the elements out become simply a "cosmetic" issue ?

I don't either, I waited until last minute to get mine replaced, that way, I only have to go through this once. I fully expect the replacement to crack as well, it's just the nature of that crappy top!

It's considered a convertible; ever own a ragtop? I've owned Alfa, Fiat, MG, Triumph, Suzuki, Mazda, and BMW convertibles, not one really kept the elements out and all had "cosmetic" issues sooner or later (except the BMW Z4 hardtop convertible).

That said I understand the frustration of owning Ford Bronco convertibles. :(
