Anyone install an axle back. I just installed the MagnaFlow duel outlet axle back.
The problem I have is at freeway speeds the drone inside is to the point I am going
to remove it and put the stock back on.
Any others with this issue.

They sound silly. Spend your money on other things.

I want to remove mine to make room for a rear winch but this is exactly the reason I haven’t done it.

I haven't heard any on the 2.3 that impresses me much either. I'd rather it be quieter than sound like a swarm of angry bees.

The 2.7 can get a nice note on it, but I just don't think the 2.3 has it in it. Inline versus V makes a big difference there I think in what you can get the sound to do.

The Steeda with the MBRP tip and some Dynamat in the cargo did the trick for me. Should seal the deal with the Hotheads Headliner & Sound Assassin kit installed.

Have the Corsa on my 2.3. No drone. Nice low tone and have had several compliments saying it doesn't sound like a 4 cylinder.

I did the Borla Touring Climber cat-back for this reason. Expensive, but worth it.

I installed the Roush axle back on my 2.7 this summer. I actually love the sound of it. With the stock muffler I couldn't even tell when the vehicle was on or off 😂. It brings a bit more bass rumble than stock. I don't notice too much drone. Then again my previous vehicle was a 5.3 Chevy with long tube headers and borla cat back.

to the OP - good luck on this subject on here lol. Exhaust sound is a preference and is very subjective. Some will hear drone when it's just more sound, some will not hear drone when others ears are bleeding.

Also depends on what you are looking for. I see you have the 2.3, as I do. I went with AWE(catback version) as I have AWE on my VW gti and I like it. I also found it at a stupid cheap price and was willing to try it out knowing I may not like it. My decision to change was the 2.3 with stock muffler was just too quiet. Having the manual I like to hear when to shift, not pay attention to the rpm gauge. I also don't want the exhaust to sound like a farting tractor / tuner setup. Is AWE perfect in my opinion, nope, but I prefer it to stock. Others will hate it and that's fine.

Best advice is hit up a bronco meet and see who has aftermarket and hear for yourself. Sound clips don't always tell the real story.

How many miles have you driven with your axleback? I found the AWE settled down on volume a bit after about 750 miles. I am mostly happy with the sound and I don't find drone to be a problem at all.

I have a 23' badlands with the 2.7. I did the MBRP cat back single high clearance ss exhaust. I love it. Deeper tone on startup, only louder when I get on it, and that is also a deeper tone but not too loud. I get no drone at any speed. Yes louder on the freeway, but again not too loud. Love it. Great way to go!

Some other kits were a lot more money but this one was less money, I also bought it on sale and have been real happy with it.

One other thing I did on mine and on a friends 2.3. While I was waiting for my MBRP kit to arrive I went down to my local O'Reilly Auto parts and bought just a turn down tip and removed the axle back exhaust pipe and muffler. I installed just that turned down tip with a clamp and the sound of that was actually really good with also no drone and a great sound on both the 2.3 and my 2.7. I had already ordered my kit and installed it when it came but to be honest this is a great way to go and only cost about $20. You just have to find the right size diameter turn down tip.

Side question… I have a 2.7 and the Roush High Clearance Axle-Back Exhaust with Black Tip. I didn’t put on the black tip which is like 6+” long. If I put that on will it sound different.

Borla Touring, absolutely no drone. I've had systems that drone om vehicles and none present on this one, 2 door 2.3, manual. Doesn't sound like a fart can either. Highly recommend, especially if you have a stick.
