This has been on my mind as well, but I was never able to find a separate part number for Everglades breathers. I have some suspicion that the breathers are all the same, and already high-mounted.
Of course, the transmission setup will be different on the auto-only 'Glades to our row-your-own boats. I have concerns about water in the clutch but have heard you won't slip as long as you don't disengage.
I suppose it helps somewhat that the manual oil is significantly easier to change.
There are also aftermarket solutions in this vein like ARB's filtered breathers.
Yes they are already well over 40". And the more lift and bigger ger tires they get higher and higher.

And I can confirm the manual is totally fine with the water. šŸ˜‰

Did you have to reroute any wiring harnesses, brackets, or any other odds and ends?
I missed this part earlier, but FYI if you do go the full factory route, the brackets also relocate your DCM. Fits in the new spot with only minor harness movement - just the portion that's actually in the bay.

I seem to remember watching some videos on the fording depth, and it seemed like the biggest limiter was the alternator location.

I think in practice the alternator may be the deciding factor for water fording depth but technically it is the breather tubes and the amount of fudge factor they give.
I have yet to try the water fording capabilities ( I mean I did a bunch of water crossings on Onion Creek in Moab and a 1.5 foot crossing in Baja) we have a small river that runs through our other property but that sucker has been dry since the day we got our Glades. It has never been dry in my lifetime. Waiting for it to fill up and try it out.

Yeah basically water getting in your breathers could potentially be an immediate problem, or at least an eventual one. But your alternator being in water isn't really a major issue. Now if you get sand, mud and grime in your alternator that can be an issue, but freshwater really isn't the end of the world. And now that most of them, at least all of the new ones have the shielding on them if you keep moving forward you're probably mostly okay.

Hi folks,

After 60k miles of joy on my 7MT 2.3L and numerous small "OEM+" mods along the way, I'm thinking my next "OEM+ mod" will be to install the Everglades snorkel. Mostly because they're simply fun and I love fun. I have read the other installation threads on this process and think I mostly have my head around it. Thanks to @pandapaul and others.

I like the idea of installing the OEM product, if possible, and I like the execution of the OEM Everglades air filter housing over the design from IAG. Levittown Ford is offering a "kit" that seems home-brewed on their part, but mostly complete. However, that kit does not provide a solution for the washer fluid access, which I believe gets relocated from this installation. I do not like the idea of relocating the washer fluid reservoir with an entirely different reservoir like the actual Everglades trim does. Seems more involved than I I'd like.

Thus, I'm considering doing a hybrid installation of the OEM snorkel paired with some of the parts from the IAG snorkel product that provides a washer fluid reservoir extender that I *believe* would go around the snorkel intake.

My question is: does anyone here see any issue with this idea? @pandapaul I know you installed yours on a 2.7L, but do you have any thoughts on this?
Instead of having to cut open the fenders for the snorkel, a more costly but better fit and finish would be to buy a pair of Everglades fenders which already have the snorkel hole and bolt holes punched out.
From what I was researching the Everglades has a slightly different styled front fenders. Then have them painted. The kit should bolt right in after a relocation of some items under the hood.

You'd have to replace your rear fenders as well to match, people have added the cost up and it's quite expensive. You might as well go ahead and chop the factory Fender up, and absolute worst case scenario if you botch it, just buy another of the same fender.

Curious to know if you plan to fully achieve the potential water-fording depth of 36.4 inches offered by the snorkel by completing the other needed components - specifically, are you planning on installing the differential, transmission, and transfer case vent tubes that came from factory on the Everglades?

Thanks for the heads up on this. Is the new spot on that Everglades schematic?

Also, you're a brave soul for how deep you've taken your Bronco. Is that related to why it's been in service for so long?

In addition to this, as much as I prefer the Everglades squared fenders (and I am one of those that has both hunted for Everglades fenders and priced them out from the factory - both are difficult options), I'm somewhat worried about how long parts will be available for them should damage happen at some point in the future. They're making a zillion of the rounded fenders so I suspect they'll be available for decades to come. I'd hate for something to become unobtanium.

Yeah they definitely won't be cheap, but I feel like they'll be available from the factory at the very least. Doesn't look like the heritage's are going away anytime soon, and the Chinese Broncos have the same fenders so there should be options. But like I say you'll probably have to go new factory, won't really be able to find too many takeoff parts.

The snorkel is rather large where it passes through the fender. So it would cover up a less than perfect cut.

also I don’t know if it’s cheaper the Heritage fenders are the same. All you need is a Glades passenger fender.

That's good to know! Although I thought if I finally did it, I think I would try to Source One of the low profile inlets that doesn't go up the a-pillar. Sounds counterintuitive, but honestly my biggest reason for doing it would be to get the intake away from the very front of the grill.

Yeah, there is no benefit ( for water fording) to have the snorkel higher than the top of the hood. The benefit of it being at the top of the windshield or passenger window is to get cleaner air. I live down a very dusty road. And after our trip to Baja others were replacing their nasty filters and mine was only slightly dirty.

Appreciate the photos! Yes, this is why I’m not too worried about chopping the fender.

On the squared fender point, unfortunately it’s just too expensive to source them. You quickly run into the multiple thousands for a set plus the cost to paint them (and heaven help if it doesn’t color match my vehicle that’s spent plenty of time in the sun over the years).
