Oil formulations are changing due to geopolitics (i.e. Pennzoil Platinum) - time to test your preference...

Who took a dump in your cereal this morning?

Mobil 1 is solid enough for motorsports/racing use. I’ve used it in the wife’s Bronco sport and since new and it’s been running perfectly fine. I’m sure most full synthetic oil you get from oreilly/autozone is miles ahead of the synthetic blend that came in our vehicles. You don’t need to top grade Luiqimoly for these engines to run fine.
You getting that worked up over a single post gives you sensitive snowflake vibes.
I’m just giving my feedback on what’s worked for me. 🤷‍♂️
I might be trying too hard to head off the anecdotal cluster Ff%^&'s these threads often fall into.

Let's try this:

"Mobil 1 is solid enough for motorsports/racing use."

So brand reputation - really, just marketing - is how one should determine what to buy?

"I’ve used it in the wife’s Bronco sport and since new and it’s been running perfectly fine."

Anecdotal in the extreme. Then, perhaps your wife and her particular driving habit IS the perfect women on which to base all future oiling decisions! :ROFLMAO:

"I’m sure most full synthetic oil you get from oreilly/autozone is miles ahead of the synthetic blend that came in our vehicles."

Except you don't know that. You have never tested either oil, though you might have read about others who have on the interwebs....but maybe they don't know what they are talking about? How would a person test these assumptions?

"You don’t need to top grade Luiqimoly for these engines to run fine."

You think that brand is good...for what? Why do you think it is good, beyond your perception of its reputation based on....what, marketing? Anecdotal reports? I personally would not use it in the Bronco's ecoboosts, but I have seen actual objective results .

Again, this will seem harsh (and maybe it is - but it's the truth), but you don't appear to have anything beyond brand perception, based on marketing/advertising, as your ruler to measure what "works for you". Modern engines are pretty robust. You could probably put olive oil (extra virgin! 😜) in your wife's car, run it for 5k miles, and come back and report here that "it did not blow up" so "it works for me"...probably...

I bet you’re real fun at parties.

you’re obviously way more anal about motor oil given your post history about trying different weight oils. Also strange you’re so obsessed with oil since your “Tesla Bronco” shouldn’t need oil.
Mobil 1 is good enough for Porsche, corvette, and Mercedes-amg. It’ll do fine in our basic broncos, you can spend all your time, money, and sanity trying every weight oil until your hair turns grey. Just letting normal people know Mobil is 100% acceptable. Maybe you should stay off the forums and lock yourself away in a remote far away cabin without internet so a differing opinion doesn’t ruin your day.

My Bronco also has a micron bypass oil filter but change the oil when the oil change minder tells me to. Still using Valvoline full synthetic oil.

Have you thought about sending in a sample for testing, just to verify that Bronco's computer's interval is not too long for this particular formulation? A DI turbo presents different stresses (on the oil) then a NA motor, which may or may not be material. Then it might not be worth it to you (perhaps your on a lease and are going to turn it in anyways, etc.).

Starting to wonder if you drink your motor oil. Might explain you going hard after someone for them saying they buy consumer motor oil without a bunch of fancy tests. Methinks doth protest too much? 🤔

There’s nothing wrong with spending unnecessary money on your bronco. It’s what we all do. But hyper-focusing on oil weights and getting triggered when someone isn’t as obsessed with it as you is weird and comes off as a superiority complex because they pay extra for oil analysis.

I'm just trying it out, seeing if it works, seeing if folks want to have a discussion beyond the usual worthless anecdotal and marketing BS.

It was never going to work... :ROFLMAO:

Yeeaaaa, it's all too "sciency" for you. Hey, you know what you know, and you will keep telling us all about it....

There's folks that might (like CarbonSteel and some others), but c'mon, you ain't gotta rip someone to shreds to get there. And you're probably running off someone who might but doesn't want to crawl into a dumpster on fire. It's just a bad look and a poor way to treat people, internet or not.

Your probably right.

Honest question - how would you go about it? "It" being the goal of a discussion of the subject without having to wade through 5 pages of "I do X and it ain't blown up on me yet and that's all anybody would want to know!!"

Am I just a Romantic - a dreamer of dreams that a substantive discussion that moves beyond this can be had, somehow, someway?? I am...probably...:)

@Notmattwong , I owe you an apology. I was too harsh and set you up as an example when you did not ask for it.

OP just can’t read the room and has zero situational awareness. Has to put others down so they can validate the extra money they spend on oil analysis and get surprised when most people don’t care as much as them. I can handle a few acoustic savants just to find the real gems of this forum.

Just ignore them or a simple thanks and move on. It is what it is, and I know it's annoying. If you really want the people who know what you're talking about and want them to participate, you can look around and @ them in the original post. But you're always going to have drive-by's and most of them are reacting and not looking at the comments anyway.

Oh I ignored them so I couldn’t see it. I do indeed see he “apologized”. Ive got an autistic buddy who’s just like him except for movies so I’m used to it.
It’s always our year. 😉

I have a Stroppe.
I don't know a hockey ball from a football bat.
I'm a pretty big guy and I've been holding my temper
But
If one more grown man comes up to me, says;
"Man, another Denver Broncos fan! How cool!",
then tries to kiss me on the 💋 👄 lips...

I may have to succumb...
