I thought I was set on getting the 2023 wildtrak with all the fixins, however a first edition with roughly 22,000 miles popped up in my area. It's one owner and pretty much been serviced at the same dealership since purchased and maintained really well.

I know the fe doesn't have the hoss 3.0 system which is a great selling point. I do know there were issues with the early models like the fe but it's at a decent price. Wild track is at 47 with 30k miles and the FE is at 46. Pretty sure I could negotiate a little bit with them on either one. Build date on the FE is 9/21.

Any input from yall?

I would go with the fe just for the lower miles and better maintenance…while the Fox coilovers are better, I would be upgrading either way…

I like the FE lighting Blue a bunch, if the motor was going to drop a valve I’d think it would have by now.

On the other hand the wildtrack has his 3.0 so nice shocks if your staying on 35’s, also bigger steering rack if you do want 37.
I’d rather add the disconnect stay bar afterwards so when it fails it won’t brick the entire vehicle.
If the wildtrak was blue or red I’d pick it.

I don't think you will go wrong with either one. You can probably swap in the OEM SBD (sans computer) or the OEM Fox suspension on either choice for about the same cost, so I'd probably pick the one I can get the best deal on. The FE is kind of cool being an FE and it's lower miles, so if you can get a better deal on it, I'd lean that way.

BTW, if the FE is in the bad valve batch of engines, I believe the recall gets you a killer extended warranty. Also, if it had a bad valve it probably would have shown its face by now.

What are you going to do with it?

I own a '24 Wildtrak and for me, I think it's the absolute best trim. It drives so nicely on the road and tackles easy trails and fire/logging roads with ease. It has the 3.0 goodies and steering box, 35s, the proper gearing, f and r lockers and it's fun to drive on and off road. I don't overland. I don't crawl. I drive the hell out of it wherever I go.

kind of like you hitting fire trails, and heading out to the desert for some sand time. crawling isnt my thing but id tag along wiht my buddies who do that sort of thing. most if not all have jeeps or 4 runners. unfortunatley the 2023 wild track i was looking at sold on saturday - same day i was going to drive up and take a look at it.

there is a 2022 WT in my area, but i do think its overpriced, and doesnt come with the hoss 3.0 out of the gate like the 2023s and up do.

My hesistation on looking at the FE is that its basically a first year badlands - with a different badge.
gonna keep my eyes peeled for a 2023 and up WT or a bad lands with the hoss that isnt super overpriced.

Just checking, but do you know for sure it doesn't have the HOSS 3.0 suspension? Mid-2022 they started building them.

Maybe try bargaining with them, particularly if it has been on the lot for a while (I know Car Gurus will show you the days it has been for sale). Because of this less desirable WT situation, I got what I thought was a killer deal on a used 'early '22 HOSS 2.0 WT with Lux package. In July of '24, it had 12K miles and I got it for $47K. That was perfect for me because I wanted the V6 and Auto, but wanted to change out the rest of the stuff anyhow (plastic bumpers, rack, skids, shocks/springs, etc.) The SBD would have been cool, but I could not find a new or used Badlands anywhere near that price at the time. I tried to leverage the WT against a used Badlands with more miles at another dealership and the salesman said there was no chance they could beat the price since the WT was being sold for less than what they paid at auction for the BL.

Oh one other thing before you buy. Make sure you count the doors. The Bronco should only have two doors + a tailgate. 😄

BTW, they actually changed the badge on the WT with the HOSS 3.0....just so you know if it's a cool kid or a dork WT.

Cool kid...

That was a good deal for the time period. Sheesh. They are going for around 45 to 50 now with more miles. From what I have seen late model 2022s will show the hoss added on the window sticker. Never knew about the sticker difference..thanks for that!

Only if the FE is lightning blue.

I have a FE and it's been great. However, I bought it used and made sure up front that it was outside the faulty valve Julian date window.

The 2023's were the first good year of builds (earlier years have had lots of issues). So I'd say the 2023.
