I connected the power for the light to the solenoid that interrupts power to the winch. So, when I turn the Auxiliary switch on to power the winch, the light comes on. The solenoid I use is just a 500a continuous duty solenoid from Amazon.

Amazon.com: 500 Amp Isolator Battery Isolator Relay for Continuous Battery Isolator Mobile Audio Relay, 500A Relay and Isolator 12v Battery Disconnect Relay : Automotive
Where did you mount the Solenoid? I kind of poked around for a logical place and did not find a satisfactory spot in the engine bay. The fender area looks most promising, but I will need to fab a mounting plate to bolt it to. For now, I have it directly to the battery. I will tap the winch light to something DBT, maybe AUX6.

I put it on the driver side fender. I modified the bracket to make it work, but it has served me well for a few years.

Just finished this up. Had to drop the mount a half inch to get it to work. Then buy longer M12 x 1.75 bolts to ensure they threaded correctly to the nut. Also had to clearance the mount so that it wouldn’t be touching the intercooler manifolding. If you’re winching there will likely be deflection, especially with the shims, soooooooooo let’s try to save that stuff.

The fairlead that comes with the winch has a smaller opening, but we’re running the Yankum fairlead. So we had to cut that out as well.

Hammerbuilt tells me they are currently redesigning the mount to accommodate the Mishimoto intercooler. And now they will look at the fairlead opening too.

I put a pretty significant side load on a pull and bent the fairlead bracket. Thankfully, I was able to straighten it and I threw several 1.25” corner gussets in (don’t mind the booger welds). I put another side load (though not as bad) and had zero movement.

Dangit. And you’re running the same fairlead I am. Couldn’t use a block for redirect?

I had the normal Yankum fairlead, but moved to the competition size fairlead for this bracket. No, unfortunately, there was nothing else to anchor to and redirect. It was a bad situation all around.
