A lot of old fuddy duddies wanting dinosaur tech for less horsepower than what a hybrid makes. I'm looking forward to it. Instant torque, better fuel economy, and the reliability of tech that's been in production for almost 30 years. What's not to like?
You sound like a broken NPC.

just stopped reading right there......
This went right over your head. Show me the charging port on a Prius, Maverick or any other hybrid vehicle? What they do have have is a place to put in gasoline, because they run on 100% fossil fuel. If having a battery and electric motors defines a car as an EV, than my 22 Bronco and every vehicle on the road is an EV.

Gas/electric Hybrid is a good way to go, you can go grocery shopping on electric, but you have range for long trips, PLUS you can power the house. I loved my PowerBoost, and clearly, it was more popular than the Lightning.

The only thing that would be better is a flexfuel or Diesel hybrid.

But in California, they are preparing an electric car tax, so they will get you one way or another.
Man this referring to hybrids as "electric" or "EV" has everyone confused. Your PowerBoost is not included in the California EV tax because it is not an EV. It runs on 100% fossil fuel and you are paying your tax every time you buy gas. EVs don't run on fossil fuel but still use the roads, so the tax makes sense. This reminds me what I heard a guy say at work about 10 years ago. He bought a new hybrid and walked in one morning and said "It can run 50 MPH on just the electric motor, I don't know why the gas motor even needs to run". He was a newly graduated electrical engineer!!

Huh? Just 22% of light duty cars & trucks sold in the USA are Hybrid. So I guess you could say that, but the message is, the market is rejecting hybrids.

The reason is pretty obvious, more complexity, more things to go wrong, you rarely if ever recoup the added costs of the hybrid powertrain vs. the equivalent non-hybrid (even with all the subsidies).

Which is why the main reason folks buy Hybrids isn't about money, it's about signaling their preferences. I'd argue most people of that ilk aren't buying Broncos to begin with, but we shall see.
22% of the market is not a rejection. That’s opportunity.

Man this referring to hybrids as "electric" or "EV" has everyone confised.
I agree the nomenclature adds to the confusion in discussing non-ice tech.
We have no idea what Ford will put in the Bronco based note article “It's not entirely clear what sort of hybrid Ford has planned for the Bronco. Farley ……. didn't offer anything more substantive.”

Also what’s confusing the discussion is some people are speaking from an off-road use perspective and others are mall crawlers. These need entirely different power trains to be successful for those tasks.
I feel the Bronco is like a wrangler, off-road first, pavement second and Ford did a great job in building that out.
The mall crawler creep is what killed the Bronco originally. This stupid we must have Ev/hybrid in a Bronco is just the latest iteration of mall crawler creep. The tech is not here yet for successful off-road electric.

We can speculate what’s in the f150 that is the ice boosted by electric, will go in the Bronco or even the AUS Ranger model which is entirely different than the f150, in AUS Ford put a 2.3 ice and a separate plug in power bank for Ev mode.
Both can be called a hybrid but it would be damn nice to have specific names for them.

When the tech is worked out and we’re not hauling around 2 different powertrains to gain a measly 5 mpg or carrying heavy ass batteries I can get excited. Everything currently brought to market in a vehicle as of today in my opinion does not improve the Bronco as an off road vehicle.

Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't Jeep just announce that they are ending production of their hybrid wrangler models? I rented one on a business trip and was thoroughly unimpressed with it. It was a plug in hybrid so I don't know if that makes a huge difference.

That's because 100% of them are under recall for catching on fire, Jeep has no solution, and telling your customers "do not charge your plug in car" doesn't result in a lot of customer satisfaction.

You sound stuck in 2009.
Yea back before every car had a giant iPad stuck to the dash, NA 4 and 6's were reliable, you didn't need to go through 3 on-screen menus to turn on you're heated steering wheel, heated seats worked without a subscription, 5/20-30 oil was still "mainstream", Toyota wasn't recalling thousands of engines, there was no Auto-Stop/ Start, the list goes on.

I'd actually like to be back a few more years before GM introduced AFM, that would be a huge win!

I'm one of the old fuddy duddies, I'd rather stay with ice no hybrid! I went and drove the new Toyota LC and was not impressed! The transition from electric to gas was not that seamless, kind of clunky, and if it's that way with a Toyota I can't imagine what it would be like if Ford built it. Plus the battery takes up a large amount of room! I also went and drove the Land Cruisers twin the Lexus GX550 which comes with a twin turbo V6, much better than the hybrid LC!

Some digging...

https://media.ford.com/content/ford...r-phev-brings-electric-power-to-europes-.html

Ranger PHEV’s all-new plug-in hybrid powertrain combines Ford’s 2.3-litre Ford EcoBoost petrol engine and 10‑speed automatic gearbox with a 75 kW electric motor (e-motor) and an 11.8 kWh (useable) lithium-ion traction battery. The battery can be charged by plugging into an external power source, as well as by the petrol engine or by capturing energy when coasting.

I saw Ford moved the Ranger Pro Power Onboard option out of Fleet sales only for 2026 soo I would suspect its coming to Bronco at some point, that was a big customer feedback thing.
