How often do you drive in 4A? I'm in it almost all the time now...

I'm in 4A (aka "Subaru mode") almost all the time now. With a Ford Performance tune, a manual, and the fact that I don't drive like I'm retired I got tired of spinning my rear inside tire pulling out into traffic with anything more than 'light' throttle application. On the "jeep trails" in my area traction is good enough for 2 wheel drive, except when it isn't - 4A smoothly fills in until it is not needed.

I don't buy the arguments that Ford's implementation of 4A is somehow lacking in engineering/robustness, is to be treated delicately, or causes problems such as drive-line wind up/binding. Yes you can feel the torque steer, but with healthy amounts of mid-range turbo torque that is to be expected.

The first option is really two: I do use 4A a lot, but never off road except that first roll-out to the first obstacle and the return to parking lot at the end. I don't roll in 2H very much, if that's what you meant.

I really only use it in the winter/snow. And even then only occasionally.

That's what I meant - think of it in miles. Even if you off-road just about everyday (I do), the vast majority of your miles are still on road. I suppose there are a handful of us who are exceptions - living on ranches in the middle of no where...

I used it once. first time driving in snow. I live on a ranch in the Texas hill country so I drive offroad every time I drive.

Only in snow / ice (rare here) or heavy rain with potential for losing traction. Off road I guess it could be useful, but I really haven't used it for that. So far I've used mostly 2H and occasionally 4H on the mild trails I have driven.

Dumb set of poll choices. I don't use it at all on pavement, only off road on the easy stuff.

I'll switch to 4H when things get a bit more tricky and 4L on the really technical stuff. I especially like 4A off road, because I don't have to be concerned about forgetting to switch out of 4H on pavement, which happens occasionally.

In the photo below, you can see my bronco way back where the road ends and the rock slide begins. I used 4L to get through the boulder field.

Well I don't know about "dumb" , but maybe I should have had a choice for off-road only use.

Let's include those folks under the "< 10% of the time..." choice...and for folks who only trailer their Bronco's to the trails and are never on road, they are just SOL as far as this poll is concerned

I usually keep it in 2WD on dry pavement, because I'm very used to RWD and not at all used to torque steer. I use 4A basically anytime it's wet out, or if a dirt road is too packed to use 4H comfortably.

Never. In snow and general off-road use, I'll use 4H. But that might be because I'm not used to having it on my vehicles.
