Come On, Ford. I Want It All — Let Us Build the Bronco We Want

The fact that you went aftermarket for ventilated seats is pretty much my whole argument in one sentence. Ford stopped taking your money, but you didn’t stop spending it.

I’m curious what you used for the aftermarket ventilation and how well it works. I’m already looking at whether I can add ventilation to my Raptor seats without giving up the Raptor bolstering.

Katzkin. They’re actually better than ventilated as they use the Peltier effect to provide cooling, not just circulating cabin air. Removing the heating coils in lieu of blowing heated air is also significantly better. I can last about 29 seconds on the conventional heated seats but with heated air I actually use them all the time.

As far as the Raptor bolstering they’ll retain it but you can also ask the upholstery shop to upgrade the foam while they’re in there. Big improvement and costs very little

I love my current setup; it definitely gets the job done. What I would not be opposed to is:

1. Ventilated front seats, why not? It has heat; why not air? It's been done on other Ford trucks and SUV's, and now the Filson has it, so we know it can be done.

2. Give a V8 in the Bronco Raptor. No, it does not need to be the F150 version, which is a differently tuned GT500 version; it can be the 7.2 Godzilla N/A motor, and yes, call it a Raptor with atomic breath. Call it a Raptor G. Hell, make it even available in a two-door.

Let's make it happen, Ford.

Now we’re talking. This is exactly what I was hoping would happen with this thread. Everybody has a slightly different version of the Bronco Ford won’t sell them. Give us more boxes to check and see how irresponsible we’re willing to get.

Well, now you have my attention. Do you know which Katzkin system you used, and roughly what the installed cost was?

I forget what they call it but just select that option when it’s available.

I think we were at $3800 installed. Could be cheaper if desired as we opted for suede upgrades on the wing areas so they don’t get preposterously hot in the sun.

Customers wanted Apple to do a lot of different things, but Steve was relentless about trying to simplify the product offerings. It didn’t mean that customer wants were always a bad idea, but they usually were not smart business. Too much effort to satisfy too small a slice of the market.

When people really wanted something that Apple had discontinued or didn’t want to start making Steve would say, “I think we should consider that a third-party opportunity.” And the debate was over.

Certainly understandable, but we don’t have that happening here. Ford is expanding the options with silly accessories already offered by the aftermarket with the exception of a new engine option. But of course, rather than a powerplant most of would really want like a 5.0, 5.2, or 7.3, we get the direct-injection only 3.0 V6. (Is it still DI or did they update it like the 2.3 to prevent gumming up the valves?)

You can sell just a limited amount of broncos to the boutique curb-rash bunny-trail mommy-wagon bronco owners...then you've got to switch it up for the next half of a generation of drivers, to make them feel special.

There is no need for ford to open the catalog and let them check blue seats and red door panels.

Fashion is (I'll guess)80% of bronco sales.
They'll buy the cake what ford sells them, then add the frosting themselves.

Why would Ford do that when majority foreign competition blocked and you can custom order a number of off roaders albeit at 4 X the price haha.

I bought a ton of Stellantis stock in last couple weeks solely based on the fact they pivoted to V8s and high HP meaning full special models that folks want plus their loved minivans and various Jeep models and trucks.

For my heritage I just wanted the 3.0, HOSS 3.0, a winch, a 4500 lb towing package and the sway bar disconnect. At least I was able to add three of them myself. Oh, I would take the camera system and the ditch lights built into the side mirrors.

“Most” is of course the operative word here. Most buyers don’t want a V8. Some do, but it’s far from most. Catering to the wants of a minority (potentially a very small minority) is always a complex business decision. Sometimes it makes sense as a loss leader. Sometimes not. One would think a manufacturer could just build the cost into a whatever-you-want menu of options, but it’s often not easy.

Governing bodies have had a soft-on for regulating V8 engines out of existence for decades. They're not driven by science, they're attacking V8 engines as a PsyOp against all ICE vehicles. That's the biggest obstacle in combination with the classification of the Bronco platform. If you don't move that, you will never get a V8 Bronco outside a Multimatic DR, that's your Skunkwerks, btw.

Hopefully, ventilated seats will become available after the first year of the Filsons. I don't think any of the other wishes will come true.

My wish? It will never happen, but...

• 4.5L narrow(compared to the Coyote) V8 based on the latest 2.3L EcoBoost with OEM package offerings for twin turbo or a Whipple supercharger with 3yr/36 like Ford offers for the F150
• Two-door love
• Heated/Ventilated all four seats
• King shocks the size of my leg
• Portals in Front, D60 out back
• 42" Tires, because 42 is the answer to everything.
• Two-piece fenders like regular Broncos, but with much more clearance and the removable section is painted.

Just kidding, this was at 74Weld's open house a couple weeks back. There's a V8 in there being dwarfed by the suspension.


Could happen:

• Ventilated Front Seats, but not on a two-door
• 3.0L EcoBoost in other trims, but not on a two-door
• Ford keeps the Bronco nameplate, but not on a two-door
• The world ends before Ford puts a V8 in any Bronco again, especially, a two-door.
