Got this thing new to me, but used with 30k on it... Started hearing a sound, can only describe it as a clicking.... Kind of sounds like if there were a metal tag on the drive shaft, and it was hitting something metal as the shaft turned.... Slid under the bronco and the front shat going into the t case has quite a bit of backlash and when turned by hand, its the exact noise i hear when driving. Everything looks aligned and good, im at 38k now so no warranty, and ive got quite a bit done to it that i dont know if they would honor it. 2 inch suspension lift and 2 inch body lift, 37s and went did the 4 link pro-x conversion. Just wondering if anyone has had issues, pretty sure ill need a new t case, but i havent done to much 4 wheeling, mostly deep sand stuff is why i put it in 4 wheel.

Rezeppa CV going bad maybe? I'd give the dealer a shot, I would think it would be covered under the 5-60 powertrain. What say @Ducati1098 ?

I will look into this, I will be down close to the dealer this weekend and maybe see about them taking a look. i live about 2 hours away so if they can check it while I am in the area that would be nice lol.

You forget about your 5yr 60k powertrain warranty.
If it’s a driveshaft I think it will be covered.

I did lol, great reminder though for someone who was thinking I just passed the warranty. Now all I have to do is hope it will be covered. I don't think that the work thats done should matter but sometimes dealers can be crap.

If you’re twisting the shaft back and forth, it’s pretty normal to have a decent amount of play, plus that wouldn’t be a rotational noise like your describing really because it would be consistently spinning.

As long as there’s no play between the actual shaft and output shaft flange, it’s likely normal and probably not your noise.

when i twist the shaft though, it literally makes the noise that i am hearing while driving. Sounds like there is something loose in there or something. best i could describe it is if there was a little loose metal tab hanging and a spinning part hits that as it is spinning. Its not a hard heavy knock but its like a little metal sound. I will try to get a video of me turning it by hand and post it today.

I hear something similar on my 22' Wildtrak but only when turning in almost full lock. Its like a clicking noise.

would love to know if you have as much play in your shaft as i do......... pause......
I wondered if mine was in the ball joint areas. it doesn't SOUND like its in the area of the driveshaft but i can get under there tonight and see what kinda play i may or may not have.

I am having a similar noise, if you find resolution, can you let me know?

A video would be quite helpful here? I know if I grab my drive shaft and wiggle it back and forth, there is play and it does make a clanking sound, but I hear nothing when I'm driving. As Ducati said, with the drive shaft spinning it has positive pressure and no clanking could occur.

I will do a video tonight for sure. The movement back and forth I am not to worried about, but the noise is what got me. Both in park just sitting and while driving. it just doesnt sound like it should be happening.

Yeah that is 100% normal. If I have time in the morning I’ll take a video of mine, but that’s going to be identical on every Bronco.
