Anyone know if this is a leak of some kind? This is the basic part time tcase. Was changing the fluid on the tcase and noticed this. The hole is open and there is no bolt there.

I had to go out and look at mine because I didn't recognize that spot.

Mine has a similar spot like yours where you can see a little seepage, like a vent. Mine was much more covered in dirt, but didn't look like it had been leaking.

I have the wet spot, never drips or gets larger.
I’ve been keeping an eye on it for a month now.
I have a bolt in that hole. Unless we are not looking at the same thing.
I have the advanced T case with awd.

Yeah I am guessing it is a vent of some sort. No leaks anywhere else and no visible drips.

There’s no seal between the TC housing and transmission housing, so I believe this is just a spot that water or anything else that gets in there can drain out.
Some Ford’s have an issue with water getting between them and rusting the transmission output shaft pretty badly.
I wouldn’t worry about a little residue like that coming out of there. If it was an actual leak it would likely be much worse. But keep an eye on it anyway.

Thanks Ducati. That is what I was thinking, but wanted to make sure. I inspected it on a lift and this is all I saw on the whole case.

Good to know about this, I've been keeping an eye on some similar looking "dry seepage" at my transmission/transfer case interface over the past 15k miles. No changes noted every time I check.

'Dry seepage" I like that. If it doesn't hit the ground, I don't worry about it.

My first car was a 1955 Willys Wagon, now that thing bled.
