The ASS is completely different than defeating DEF.I'm well aware of the aftermarket options. The question is whether the ECU is locked down for 24+ vehicles and as a result the Forscan route was no longer an option, or whether Forscan disabled the ability to avoid the wrath of the EPA.
Don't forget that it wasn't long ago that the EPA vigorously went after tuners who were disabling emission control components in vehicles. It is possible that Forscan deleted that capability to avoid being the target of the EPA.
I don't think the EPA ever actually required an ASS feature, it was just a way to help manufacturers meet the CAFE standards that the EPA was requiring.
So they shouldn't care if you disable it or if Ford stops using it, as it was never actually a requirement.
That's why they've never pressured anyone who made/sold the dongles that kill it, while they were very much pressuring shops & people making deletes for DEF & EGRs.
