Why anyone would order a new Bronco with the MIC is beyond me. For us early reservation holders, we had no choice.
Not all early reservations got a MiC top! The only good thing about being strung along by allocations was the fact Ford let me switch from a Badlands to a HE. Not only did I get the price protection from a Badlands, but a nice white top that doesn’t seem to crack!

You have a door right? Hard to see in the Pic. What I'm wondering is if the problems are more in 4 doors than 2 doors. Which I'm thinking they are. I'd think the 4 door flexes more having a longer body, and that flex busts apart the tops at the back corners. And around the windows vendor the top will flex more than the windows

We'll never know numbers, but that's my theory

And I don't mean to sound harsh in the first post, but reality is this is known. Get replaced under warranty if you still have it, but if you don't, I'd upgrade to a better product. I'd only replace with same oem crap if I find it really cheap. For the oem price, you can find a better product for less. I would not spend oem price for another bad top, that would just be crazy

@BigFootie has a 2 door, but it’s also a HE, so it’s the painted top.

Either way, some 2 doors with MIC have issues too, there’s just less 2 doors.
If it was a flexing issue, which I don’t think it is, I would assume the 2 doors would have more issues since it’s a bigger one piece rear clamshell overall.

'Well sir we've shit the bed, so many beds that it is now our belief that most people have shit in their bed and that they like it so we're just going to keep on keeping on with our new shitty beds approach."
Instant classic. Very funny, accurate and appropriate.

It seemed like a pretty reasonable hypothesis though to me by @Lifeliberty .

Not clear to me if you were or were not under warranty at the time of the most recent failure - specifically when your rig went to the dealer for the evaluation for this latest failure.

If you were under warranty, file a small claims case, directly against Ford Motor Corporation.

Don't bother with the BBB, they have NO authority, no power and do NOTHING binding.

Also find the thread here about the law firm doing preliminary discovery as to a potential class action. You will get a tiny fraction of what you can get in Small Claims but still good to do. Also there is another thread here where a member has a website with a database of MIC failures. Sign up there so we all have more data.

You do know that if a BBB claim isn't settled immediately and goes to arbitration, the arbitrator's award is binding on the manufacturer but not the owner, right? And you do know that small claims can be limited to a few thousand dollars, far less than the cost of a MIC (or preferably black/white/painted) top, right? Start adding up the cost of the top, time out of service, depreciation due to all the fucking warranty claims in the vehicle's history, etc. and it can far surpass a small claims court limit.

^ This right here. ^ We need to stop buying MIC topped Broncos or flat out tell the dealer we’re offering $5000+ less than we otherwise would because we know we’ll have to spend that money on an aftermarket hard top down the line. I’ve mentioned my concern to salesman at multiple dealers. Not surprisingly they’ve all claimed ignorance of there being any MIC top issues.
Ford should really offer a top delete option for those that want something else for a top. I'm still baffled why you can't get an OEM 2-door ragtop.

A friend is going through the MIC top nonsense with his '23 BL 2-door. Between what I've seen on this board, his debacle, and new cracked tops on dealer lots, I simply won't buy a MIC top. The stinker is a BL 2-door with a painted top is stupid expensive, so I guess I keep buying soft top Jeeps.

Pretty sure this is a body flex issue overstressing the tops where the Ford B &C brace kit will eliminate a lot of this flex....an easy fix.

These braces should be standard....

Look into the magnoson moss warranty act

If it’s gone in enough times you may be compensated and you accept it as is.

I got $15,000 in my
Pocket for a issue I had w a Chevy

I guess that is a possible cause, but some of the cracks on my 2-door top don't seem in an area where flex would matter, plus my top hasn't flexed much in terms of terrain covered.

Also I need to give a closer look and document, but seems like most of the cracks on my top are on the side that receives the most sun. So I'm wondering if heat could also play a role with some cracks.

Not likely flex as some warranty replacement MICs arrive crated at dealer with cracks, never even been on a Bronco.

It really just amounts to a major quality control issue at Webasto.

There are tops that apparently never crack or delaminate so that spells to me that the flaws can be avoided with proper quality control.

At least with the new tops coming from Webasto, if Ford rejected them immediately and sent them back I'd bet money that Webasto would get their act together a lot faster.

The easiest and most prudent solution for Ford is to stop using the MIC tops altogether and give customers a choice of the gloss black top, colour matched top or soft top.
