If you are wanting to recoup your money in 20 years you should have invested it instead of buying a mass produced car made by Ford.
the Bronco is all about gratification in the moment not about future gain

Especially if it has a build date in the spring when a small batch of chassis were produced when Ford needed a DS Everglades for marketing. The majority of DS Everglades were produced in a 6 week window in the summer of that year when the Ranger Splash edition was also being produced with DS.

I encountered one of those rare batch DS Everglades at Super Cel that year in April. They were waiting behind me at the lone car wash near the IGA.
I have only seen one DS out in the wild outside Ford PR or Supercel. My new neighbor has an EG soo its kinda cool. I have yet to talk to him though.

I still kind of kick myself for turning down a DS Everglades from the early batch. I have a close friend and she was involved in the early Bronco flipping days. She offered it to me for her all-in cost, but I just couldn't bring myself to driving a moar door. I was also offered an AMB OBX, but again moar door conundrum.

Just go enjoy it, if it happens good for you. I bought this in ‘92, with no crystal ball on what it would be worth, just liked it and it had a manual transmission . Got a 6G 2 door to keep it company

That's the fallacy that those who didn't own the car assume. It wasn't a break-even, it was a loss.
Sure, the total cost of ownership over 65 years is definitely going skew the value in the more unfavorable direction. I guess the point was that the average auction price range of an Edsel (just looking at face value) seems like a nice little profit, when it really is not the return on investment it seems, just looking purely at face value.
And the point @HotdogThud was making is that collecting cars for the longer term return can be a VERY tricky business. The Edsel is basically holding its own in collector car world and it's main endearing feature is it's wide spread reputation as the ugliest car ever designed and actually built.

Cripes, I see a Renault Le Car has sold at auction for $18,000. But, it was likely a French buyer. That one probably doesn't really count.

So, it would be a very dark day in the future that the value of G6 Bronco might be surpassed by the awfulness of a Pontiac Aztec because enough people want to park an Aztec next to their Edsel. It could only be serving as a sign that the coming apocalypse is right around the corner. Fortunately the Aztec appears to have a long way to go in resale value and hopefully the last one in existence finds a car crusher before that tragedy could possibly happen.

PSA- Spare humanity, crush an Aztec TODAY!

That is an awesome looking Bronco. The Base used to be by far the best value, not so much anymore. Mine is rare in a different way. I have a base with modular bumper, bull bar and aux switches, nothing else. I'm not an off roader and didn't need or want giant tires, but like the looks of the steel bumper and bash plates. Makes it look tough when its not haha. You can't get these options on a base anymore, and I've never seen one. Mine was a special order, waited 2 years to get it.

My Bronco is super rare. There are maybe only 10-15 of them within 5 miles of me😂.

Who Told you there where zero manual transmission Bronco’s built in 2023 ?

I own one.

So if what you say is true that means I own the rarest Bronco in world history.
As far as I remember the Manual wasn’t an option in 2023.

Down the road, rarity will matter less than desirable options.
My 23 Heritage Edition 2 door manual is one of under 300 2 door manuals made that year due to supply issues.
Not one of 300 in my color, 300 with my drivetrain... 300 total.
If I ever decided to sell, it wouldn't matter.
People want 4 doors, people want automatics, people want V6s.
They would choose a 24 over mine because it came with the 12" screen.
People MAY pay more for my removable rear windows.
2 door, Heritage, small screen, manua,l mod top with removable windows.
It is 100% a unicorn... But it won't pull a big price.
I have the same in race red and I have the ford performance tune with auto rev matching and auto stop start that stays off. I’d hate to try to find another but I don’t expect it to sell for a big premium.

This is my wife’s. OBX, 2.7, cloth seats, mid package, 44k out the door, and yes a 2 year wait. If only you could have gotten a manual with the 2.7, that would have been fun

The thing is, it's classic correlation without causation. If there weren't a few (probably completist) collectors out there paying these top dollar amounts, they might be worthless. There's nothing that ties those two numbers together except what some individual collectors were willing to bid almost seventy years later. Yeah, it's kinda nifty that they seem to somewhat align, but that's about it.
