We ordered the Hoss 3.0 from Summit Racing. It has an unusual amount of paint pen markings of various colors. I've only seen this on used or rebuilt parts... Is this normal for a new Ford Performance rack?

Is this a donor rack for your clunky aerospace billet rack or a replacement while they fix it?

It's for the 2dr. Not sure what is happening with the Raptor 74W rack. Quinn quit responding after offering to rebuilt and me accepting. :frown:

Good deal. Did you buy through Ford dealer or 3rd party?
Lethal performance but it was all in proper ford performance box. I’ve helped with 4 or so rack installs, they all had some factory marks like this. I recalls lots of purple, and I think at least one of them had the “WT” which I assumed was “wildtrack” since I believe those were the first with the 3.0 rack

Finally installed the Hoss 3.0 Severe Duty rack in our 2dr Sasquatch Manual.

Decided to try the "easy" method with ProCal. It didn't download the files properly (no surprise). Ford Support was excellent - engineering modified my download and was able to run with no issues.

Here's what I learned in the process:
1. DO NOT. Try the procal method if you do not have a FACTORY Sasquatch. It will likely brick it. Tech has multiple Broncos in this situation currently. They "may" have a resolution in a year or so.

2. If you have an older procal with tune (like me) and then add the steering rack it will likely not link the original ASBUILT information and fail. Don't fear. Just need engineering to modify file (may take a day or two).

3. Best use case situation for ProCal at this point (for success).
A) Factory Sasquatch.
B) Purchased Procal with Rack and ran together.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed. :)

Hey guys, I'm new here (kinda Obv. I guess..) I'm a former Ford service tech (Galpin Ford, Northridge CA) and I'm in a pickle with my next-door neighbor's 2022 Badlands 4dr (2.3L EcoBoost/manual trans) and currently work as Customer Service Lead for 4WP.com's online sales.

I had my Riverside CA store install the Hoss 3.0 rack knowing they did not have a scan tool and offered to come handle the programming with my trusty Forscan equipped Win10 laptop. in an attempt to avoid him having to purchase the Procal tuner.
Unfortunately, I was not able to use the standard PMI method I was used to with IDS/Forscan in the shop and they were done with all of the other work he had them do (Etop, MBRP catback, WeBoost antenna and tailgate mount, Redarc Trailer brake controller and some Rough Country Flares... Approx $14K sale, looks good for me) so I drove it home to Yucca Valley myself to continue my attempts.

I've pulled several VINs from various online dealer listings to run As-Built requests (motorcraftservice.com) for several Wildtrak or Badlands models ranging from 22-24 and have compared all of the As-built data sets from his OG vin against the other sets and have only seen variation on 1-2 lines of the code.

I'm trying to avoid having to purchase a J2534 cable since I know how to read the lines of code and each line's location ID. Is there something else I'm missing or is there something special about the FDRS/rack hack process that I am unaware of?

Please help me....

I don't believe the J2534 cable is because of the data in the As Built, It's required to run the actual programming of the NVRAM in the new rack, which is blank in the rack when you receive it. I've been programming (PMI) racks in My Badlands, and then putting them into a different Bronco, doing a relearn on the modules in the new Bronco.

I really don't think you're going to get the data into that new rack without FDRS and a J2534 cable..

I was afraid of that... so there is just one step that Forscan cannot do by itself basically?

I guess the Mongoose Plus + FRDS sub (@$120/per 2 days) are still less $$ than the Procal tuner from FP as well....

A mongoose + is what I use, there is a cheaper one that is mentioned earlier in the thread that seems to work for some folks, Is FDRS up to $120? I did one this past fall and it was only $50, But It has been for years so I wouldn't be surprised if it went up....

Mongoose is what I use. And I recall FDRS 2-day pass being a lot less, like the $50 mentioned. Been awhile since I did it though.
