Low pressure fuel pump failure - recall

This fuel pump recall is the only one that concerns me. Not digging the “ wait until we can figure out a fix” policy being floated by Ford. My question is if we lose a pump is Ford paying for the tow, transportation home, and hotel if required?

Who is saying to not drive your Bronco?

Well indirectly it is implied On the recall- “An engine stall while driving increases the risk of a crash.” And I wouldn’t like to be stranded in some remote place should in fail.

I'm not generally am not a very litigious guy but hasn't Ford now accepted liability if I back over someone or if the engine dies in an intersection and I'm killed. Informed my wife what to do...

Your infrequent hesitation during acceleration when first driving it could be the transmission shifting. I know many times when my transmission is cold like sitting overnight, it will hesitate while shifting one or two times. Once it is slightly warmed up it doesn't do that.

My manual trans Badlands has also bucked from time to time.

So we shouldn’t be driving our Bronco’s while awaiting a fix? Are there aftermarket fuel pumps available to have them replaced sooner?

Don't drive your Bronco until there is a fix available. Also, don't drink from a garden hose, and never run with scissors!

It used to do it to my 2.3 7MT as well, I always thought I was just dumping the clutch to fast.

But it went away entirely once I installed ProCal.

So - I don't think it's an Auto Trans issue, nor do I think it's a fuel pump issue. I think it's an engine tuning issue.

They always say to avoid the first two model years of a new vehicle release (all brands) so that the manufacturer can find the problems. Sounds like that rule applies here as well.

I received this recall as well. ‘22 Outer Banks Sas w/ 45k miles. Haven’t experienced the issue luckily.

Should I assume they need to drop the fuel tank for this fix? Sucks because my fuel tank skid will have to be removed and I don’t trust Ford to do this without f’ing it up, as they’ve f’d up another skid of mine in the past. And my shock skids will have to be removed too when the shock recall fix is available.

I paid a shop to do all my skids because I didn’t have the time or expertise, so looks like I’m going to have to pay the shop to remove my skids and put them back on again. Is that something Ford will pay for via reimbursement due to THEIR recalls?

Yes, tank will need to be dropped. Ford does reimburse for some things, but I don’t see them doing it for paying someone else to remove/reinstall your skids

They should without issue, but I can’t say that for certain because every dealership is different.

A smart technician will contact SSSC for any additional time needed due to aftermarket parts and they almost always approve things like this.

If they were genuinely concerned they would tell us to not drive it. I’m sure the failure rate is higher than average but not to the point where we’re all going to crash

Ford must have made lots of manufacturing changes to MY24 because there are no active recalls for this year. I'm curious...for example, what are the part numbers for rear camera and fuel pumps between the 2 years

lol '24 just hasnt failed yet.... and no reason to include in the recall prematurely
