Most older videos (non-Bronco) I see don't require the brake pedal to be pushed coming out of BMM - of course trying that here doesn't work either so ... yeah, something ain't right.
What if you reset/reboot the ABS module and/or related modules in Forscan?

Good question, haven't tried that.

I did try pulling the battery cable - it came back up in BMM. There is a DTC set in the ABS module, which I assume it just the code for being in BMM. If FDRS doesn't come up soon I can give it a shot, but I think pulling the cable would have rebooted everything.

Or maybe have it run a module test procedure.

Got it to work and posted everything in the wrong thread.

I got Forscan to work - when it tells you to push the brake - do NOT push the brake, just click ok. It will then exit BMM

(FDRS servers still down - oh well, a $50 lesson to not go pushing random buttons out of curiosity)

Can you post the full process to enter and exit BMM without using FDRS? Or link to the thread that you mention in the first sentence?

Glad you were able to get out of BMM, always to have some good nuggets of learning for the inevitable brake/clutch fluid refreshes down the road...

Is tis procedure correct relative to the brake push in step 3 coming out of BMM?
I was never able to get the cheat code procedure to work, in any fashion. That includes many, many attempts to fix my issue where I was stuck, including with and without the brake pedal part in step 3 (older videos for the F150 show without the brake). I was only able to enter it in the first place via Forscan.

In Forscan, you just click the Enter BMM procedure, and it winds for a minute and is done. When you go to Exit, you click exit, it sits for a few seconds then says “Push Brake Pedal Firmly. OK / Cancel”

If you do push the brake pedal and click OK (I tried it both pushing / holding and pushing / release), Forscan immediately shows an error saying “Cannot exit BMM, try again and press the brake more firmly. If it still doesn’t work try this (and then it lists the steps for the cheat code - almost identical to how they are posted here)

I tried that a dozen times pulling my hair out. Finally I tried it ~without~ pushing the brake pedal, and Clicked OK, and the rear brakes wound for a minute and it exited BMM

With respect to the procedure in the Cheat Code thread: it seems 2.7 folks have no issue and have reported it works - but may take a few attempts to get the timing down. MY21 2.3 owners have said it worked. I’ve not heard from any other 2.3 owners that have got it to work (I wonder if MY25 would or not since they got the EBB now)

The big thing for the cheat code - it’s almost identical entering and exiting, but they do push the Parking Brake button opposite — Enter is “Off” and Exit is “On”

(FWIW I also tried both directions since the direction of On/Off on the parking brake button got reversed in 22 following too many people popping the hood release instead)

Bringing this thread back up because I’m losing my mind trying to get out of maintenance mode. The cheat code doesnt work. Tried like 20 times. It worked to enter maintenance mode. I tried using forscan, but when I run the exit procedure it cancels every time and says service procedure interrupted. Can anyone help me out? I need to get moving ASAP!

Any active fault codes? I don't believe it will let you exit if you have fault codes. Just to double check this is what you are doing:

To cancel/escape/leave/or otherwise deactivate Brake Service Mode
1. Car turned “on” and in park.
2. Hold the accelerator down. Do not release until told to.
3. Hold the parking brake switch UP. Do not release until told to.
4. Press the brake pedal down for at least 1 second.
5. Release the brake pedal (continue holding the accelerator and parking brake switch)
6. Turn the car off,
7. Turn the car back “on” within 5 seconds.
8. Release the accelerator and parking brake switch.

Thanks man. Turns out I had a major brain fart moment and forgot to reconnect the electric connection for one of the brakes. Totally my bad! Lesson learned!

Battery disconnect and touch the disconnected terminals together? Forscan can sometimes engage/disengage that mode too.
