So I’m one of the lucky ones where the cheat code to enter Brake Maintenance Mode doesn’t work.

So I was poking around in Forscan, it has enter/exit BMM, decided to try it

It entered BMM just fine! Great!

Go to exit. Forscan gives me an error and tells me to try the cheat code method (even prints it out). So yeah, I try that but no dice.

I’m leery to pull the battery cable while in BMM to reset things but thinking I’ll try that before ponying up for FDRS to see if that gets me out.

Any suggestions?

Use the cheat code. This goes back 6 months or more when I did my brakes, so unfortunately I don't remember the cheat code.

I do recall it took like 10 attempts to get into maintenance mode, and 10 attempts to get back out. Eventually I figured out I was doing too long of a pause in between 1 of the steps. Which also wanted stated in the video I watched, but when I thought about that 1 step not making sense, that's when it clicked in.

Sorry, wish I could be more help, I just remember it being a PIA.

You wouldn’t happen to recall that video? Most I see are F150 and they aren’t doing the exact same procedure I’ve seen outlined

(Not that either of them have worked for me - definitely well past 10 attempts)

it was this guy @evilletruck

Edit: If I remember correctly it may have something to do with foot on or off a pedal.. If I had half a memory I'd tell you. But I think I kept trying it one way (maybe with foot on pedal) and the realized it was the other way.. I'm trying to jog my memory without much luck though.

Oooh I may have figured it out. Trying to watch video with closed captions since I'm at work... to get out of brake maintenance mode he hit button (did not start), mentions push gas pedal, then pull parking brake, then push brake pedal for 2 seconds, then turn off and back on. If I remember correctly, I was releasing gas pedal when going to parking brake and brake, and should've kept foot on. Or maybe I needed to release gas but kept it pressed. It was one of those 2 I believe.

Thanks. Yeah, tried it every which way. Had my son try it, he couldn't get it either.

Broke down and paid for FDRS, but... of course, log in servers appear to be down. Trying @Snacktime tricks to see if it's Ford or Win11 Shenanigans

Do you have a 2.3 or 2.7. ? For some reason the process doesn't work correctly on 2.3L engine Broncos maybe because of the difference of vacuum assist for the 2.3 but seems strange that would impact it. Though Ford has done stranger things 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, 2.3

I had never been able to get it to work. I just tried the procedure in Forscan while I was monkeying with other things to see if it worked. And found out it only halfway works.

You may be right about vacuum assist - maybe can't get the brake switch to engage to the point where BMM needs to see without vacuum, but you have to have the vehicle off... I dunno, just guessing there.

I think they just messed something up in the programming. The maintenance mode has been around on vacuum brakes far longer than EBB has been out.

Servers are down
Yeah I got all the updates done and I get "No healthy upstream" ... whatever that means.

So I drug out my ancient W10 laptop and let it take 30 minutes to boot up. It doesn't even give an error - just closes the login screen before anything happens.

So I figured they must be down.

Most older videos (non-Bronco) I see don't require the brake pedal to be pushed coming out of BMM - of course trying that here doesn't work either so ... yeah, something ain't right.
