2021 2.3 7sp man 2dr with 59k miles on it engine died on the freeway. Coasted to a stop on the side, on the phone with AAA then tried to start again and it did turn and stay running. Had 17 miles on gas got to Costco. Ran in started right up got gas started right up again then died as I was leaving Costco.

AAA came out. Would not start with a jump. They said battery had 80% charge.

Bronco is 3.5 years old and has just over 59k miles. It’s at the shop now hopefully will get looked on Monday.

Any ideas or help would be welcomed. Thank You! Looking for the most budget friendly fix. Haha.

I don't know for certain, but 80% sounds kind of low for a vehicle that was just out driving. Alternator maybe?

At least with a 2.3 you can rule out bad valves.

80% is the target setting for the BMS, so not all that unusual, even if it has been driving around. BMS will only charge on engine braking events once it senses >= 80%.

I would be guessing fuel pump / filter myself - but really we need DTC codes to tell anything, if there are any.

Can Ford diagnostic software pull up onboard snapshots of stall events and such?

Fuel pump. Ours crapped out at 11k (stranding my wife in 95 degree heat for two hours while waiting on AAA); you’re lucky you got 59k on yours…

Does anyone know what dealers charge for a fuel pump replacement?
