Has anyone else had this happen? The plastic window breaks right where it folds because it was cold?

Plastic gets brittle when it is cold and doesn't fold/roll well. Very common problem on jeep tops. Not sure how common it is on Broncos.

Did it just sort of happen on its own, or was it from you folding/removing it?

I've had Jeeps for a long time and have learned to treat that clear plastic like egg shells once it starts getting below the 40s or 50s - Definitely have used my share of clear tape on those windows on my jeeps.

I had a soft top on over the last year. I took it off for good since I didn't touch the rear window the whole winter which makes loading/unloading stuff in the back a pita.

It happened in Feburary when it was cold. I’m in New England, no one ever mentioned that the soft top couldn’t be used year round.

I have also had issues with Jeep soft top windows cracking in cold weather. Clear packaging tape on the inside is a decent temporary fix. While the easy load feature may work fine in the warmer months, the plastic side windows do not like getting folded during cold weather. While I agree that this sucks, after replacing the window(s), I would recommend no longer using this feature in the cold if possible.

This happened to me in Wyoming with 17 degree weather one night while camping. I had to cut the window out and replace the plastic. We have had so many issues lately that we traded it in for a Wagoneer. You can’t really tell it was replaced. At least the dealer didn’t see it.

There is a warning in the owners manual to not open the cargo area in cold temperatures. I've done it without issue, but only by making sure the heat inside the vehicle had helped warm the windows a bit. Probably something a dealer or salesperson should mention, especially in northern climates.

I've seen a couple other people post similar. One was able to get a warranty replacement, but don't be surprised if it's denied, since it was February and it is mentioned in the Owner's manual.

So I just looked in my manual and I don’t have that page, so I don’t think it’s actually in my manual. I have a 2023.

Ford's ridiculously dumb flip-up design is to blame here, along with cold.

No reason Bronco couldn't have an opening back panel like ragtop Jeeps have had forever.

I am in NY and never ever had an issue in the frigid weather.
