I just installed mine. I didn't need to use a rachet to remove the strut from the tailgate. My combination wrench was thin enough I could unscrew the mounting stud without releasing the ball head.
I just stumbled onto this thread as I'm interested in limiting the tailgate swing. Mine is just stock Sasquatch but there are a number times I had to stop the tailgate from swinging out too wide.

How's the War Horse treating you? Are you finding the door slipping to the end of the slot?

Lastly, did anyone compare this type of of tailgate limiter to the rubber type that fits in the hinges (like the Turn Offroad ones)?

I’ve just seen the rubber stops from Turn last week. Someone in our group runs them and loves it. I have no experience though. The nice thing about the rubber is it will cushion the stop. As a lot of us have found out, having kids or folks unfamiliar with the tailgate open them can be bad. I’ve seen the stops rip out. The rubber is supposed to cushion it

I've been using the RTR limiter for 2 years and it's been good. Had to get rid of it because my new rear bumper is so tight that there's only about a centimeter of clearance from the bottom of the door. Warhorse was the only one designed to be tucked up enough and so far seems pretty good. I don't love that it relies on the strut maxing out, which is squishy and ambiguous where the RTR stops because of the pin setting on the additional bracket.

But the warhorse is good and had great customer service to get me the measurements.

I'm very happy with the Warhorse. No slippage, and very adjustable. The stock gas strut has enough resistance so it provides cushioning. I have mine set so the tailgate swings just past 90 degrees so I can open the rear glass with no interference from the weatherstripping. I'd definitely buy it again if I had to get another Bronco.

I don't know, by the time you powder coat and add the degree graphics, the M2M is not bad price wise. I have the M2M and it works as advertised with the stock rear bumper.

I looked into this too and decided a different option. You could DIY one for cheap. $15 angle iron cut to just longer then the two fastener holes you will use on the tailgate. Cheapo set of bits and some paint, clear and two fasteners. I already have cutting/drilling tools though but you could use a handsaw and regular drill, it just will take longer.

You'll need two new fasteners and two holes drilled in the top face of the angle iron. Remove them and take them to the HW store to get your new top face fasteners and the angle iron (painted fastener and ball fastener). You will re-use the stock ball fastener for outward facing portion of the new angle iron. You will need to drill the holes to the on that face at your desired tailgate angle. Install the angle iron and make sure your piston is all the way extended before you line up the end to your desired position. Mark the hole center as you open the door holding the piston head up to the angle iron at max length for your desired angle. Mark, remove and drill. FYI my piston still had more to give even though I thought I extended it all the way so my attachment holes are off. I did two holes on the outward face. I wanted a 90deg/120deg setting but got 100deg/130deg. Sorry for the bad pic, all I have atm. I added a botle opener and bag holder that doesnt work. I plan to make a better version since it doesnt take too long.

This looks like one I saw on Etsy. Angle iron seems heavy for the application though. What size did you use?

warhorse, easy peasy, doesn't need painted, fit and finish is fine out of the box. Very solid, no guesswork. 5 minute to install, and pays people for their development.

Build your own if that's what you enjoy.

Really one could make their own pretty easily. I should’ve just done that but was under a self imposed time crunch that has now been lost 😂

I thought about making my own but I already have too many projects. Buying the Warhorse brace was quicker.

How many days from order date until follow up regarding shipping? I order over a week ago and have not heard from this since initial order email.

Did you ever receive yours by chance? Been about a week here too and haven't seen any updates yet... Can't wait to get this on!
