My 23 BL with 2.7 10-spd is smooth as butter. Super happy with it. No issues after 32.5K miles so far.

I believer the transmission cal is adaptive and adjusts based on your driving style. Any chance you share the vehicle with a spouse that may drive differently? Or if just you, are you inconsistent in how you drive it?

Curious if any of you are experiencing a choppy launch when you first get moving in your 2.7L. Mine acts like the fuel wants to cut out for a second and then it gets going. It is perfectly fine on the highway. Around town is pretty frustrating. I have 11,000 miles on it so it is likely not the learning of the transmission.
I have a 2021 badlands 2.7 and it is strong with no choppy hesitation. It will flat get up and go!

From the descriptions Im reading it sounds like a software issue or something, as opposed to a fundamental problem in design. Just wanted to add some data for those reading this thread.

Yes, exactly. How do I know it's a software issue? Hold the go pedal in exactly the same place. Initially, the computer second-guesses you. Their AI decides, "he doesn't really want to move, so I'm not going to give him the gas."

If you hold the go pedal in the same place long enough, then the computer gets that you really want to move, so the gas comes on strong. There's nothing wrong with the engine or tranny, it's all in the programming.

With regards to choppiness at start-up, my steady inputs tell me that it's a programming issue. It helps that I have a new one, so I'm not wondering if something broke.

I would like to take a closer look at your driving performance concerns. Could you please send over a message with your VIN and estimated mileage so I can look into this on my end?
My 23 badlands does this, my 21 Wildtrac did not

I’ve had this happen to me as well. Have the Ford Procal tuner and run 93. Overall I couldn’t be more pleased, but occasionally (as someone else described) if I am rolling to a stop and then decide to get on gas to turn bc there’s an opening, it falls flat on its face, like it died. I thought maybe it was a throttle position issue and something like Pedal Monster would fix it. Anyone tried similar?

I agree on the choppy throttle on the 2.7. Mine is 2021 and was hoping Ford would have a fix. Not a performance issue. The power is there when needed but around town, annoying to drive slow.. wish I could default the tranny to start in 2nd.

My Chevy 5.3L is a complete DOG off the line compared to my 2.7 Bronco.
The 5.2 VooDoo is a whole different story.

Have zero experience on this but one of the mods I see is the install of a pedal commander or as mentioned above pedal monster. Maybe someone has experience with them and can weigh in but those that use it seem super happy.

This is exactly what I do. I had my tuner completely skip 1st gear, so I always leave the line in 2nd gear. Game changer if you have 4:70 gears and 35’s. I’d imagine with heavier/larger tires it wouldn’t be so great.

Thank you. I have the 4.70 gears and the 35’s. Will give it a try for sure.

I run the 2.7 with the Ford Performance tune, not sure if I have this same issue as described in this thread but mine seems to stutter when accelerating from stop, and it is NOT while it's changing gears but rather, while accelerating. I should note that I did have the Pedal Commander and it seemed like it was worse with it - once I disconnected, the issue seems a little better. As someone earlier posted, it's also a little better still if I go into Eco mode - but I have the performance tune, who the heck with that wants to run in eco mode all the time?? I'm eager to try the suggestion about turning off traction control... I've also been wondering if it may be some air intake sensor concern - I'm running a Corsa CAI but the oem sensors are still part of the system.

It's not just the 2.7, I have the 2.3 and the Ford ProCal and this happens to me intermittently. Kinda like it's choking for gas. Mostly from a stop but sometimes when slowing down to change lanes.

Some days, not at all, others when I get going and for a few minutes, others seems to last longer. Kind've annoying. Lately I've been seeing if hammering the gas briefly helps, but that's so far inconclusive.

I recommend a continuation of your current "just hammer the gas" and even if it does not go away you may find it a little less annoying. 😁 :ROFLMAO:

I've experienced that. A hesitation. Particularly when turning from a stop with a lite decreasing throttle to a heavier throttle. Happens occasionally.

I haven't figured out if it's the vehicle or if it's how I'm feathering it. Turbo lag? Performance tune?
I have experienced the same thing, turning from a stop.

My 2.7L with 2400 miles does the same thing. If I'm stopped at a light, then punch it to take off it launches slow then accelerates as expected after a couple seconds. I figured it's just turbo lag. Once I'm rolling, there is no lag.
