Curious if any of you are experiencing a choppy launch when you first get moving in your 2.7L. Mine acts like the fuel wants to cut out for a second and then it gets going. It is perfectly fine on the highway. Around town is pretty frustrating. I have 11,000 miles on it so it is likely not the learning of the transmission.
My 2023 black diamond with the 2.7 engine does exactly that as well. It has always been a slightly uneven acceleration and frankly I’ve come to accept it as an idiosyncrasy of this vehicle.
Same here with most all of the above. Probably my biggest disappointment next to the crappy CarPlay. Really takes away from an otherwise good driving experience. Not real keen on dropping another ~800 either to make it perform like it should in the first place.
AGREE! We shouldn’t have to Mickey Mouse this vehicle to get the proper “ford performance”!!!!

I haven't noticed anything unusual with my 2023 Black Diamond with the 2.7. Although, I also came from a 2020 F-150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost and 10speed. I initially thought the F-150 was a little rough when I first bought it, but that feeling went away over time. Nothing stood out when switching to the Bronco as the acceleration feels similar.

I haven’t read the whole thread but I think it’s the traction control. Have it calibrated. Or see if u experience it completely turned off. I forget how to do it but I think you to have press for at least 5 secs. Consult the manual lol. On my 2dr making a turn under throttle makes it dog the gas a bit.

I started noticing this problem more in the last month or two. Always during slow city driving, never highway. About 12K on it, also 2.7L. I keep it in Sport mode almost all the time.

It *unfortunately* made me think of my Bronco II (maybe an '89?) that had a horrible problem with hesitation... it would skip a beat at just the wrong moment when you were trying to accelerate.
Same. Happens all the time during short trips around town like commuting to/from work. It gets better if I do some highway driving but then returns again. I have found in Sport mode I don't have this problem, it's one of the main reasons I'll use it.

I also experience this on a 2024 OBX non-sas 4.27 gears, but I replace stock tires with KO2s 285/70/R17 on Method 703 (+35mm offset)

I haven't really tested but I did start to notice more when I run in sport mode, slow turns up a hill seems to trigger it most often.

I'll have to try with traction control off.

So are you running premium fuel or just standard 87? I could maybe convince myself to spend the $700 up front, but I'd hate to also increase my fuel spending.
I'm running Top Tier 93 that I buy from Costco. I bought the upgrade kit for $625.

Just to add a data point, but mine has never done this ~15k miles, and regardless of throttle input it accelerates as expected. I'm actually impressed with the speed and 0-60. I came from a Subaru STI, not a total speed demon but not slow either, and the Bronco feels just as "peppy," just a bit slower, with no unexpected lag from the trans or turbos noticeable.

I've gotten the wheels to chirp a few times while pulling out of driveways or hitting on-ramps and never noticed any sluggishness or choppiness.

From the descriptions Im reading it sounds like a software issue or something, as opposed to a fundamental problem in design. Just wanted to add some data for those reading this thread.

You do not have to be in the act of losing traction for the TC settings to modulate power. This isn't new tech or crappy tuning. My bike does it too, albeit in a much stronger fashion so I'm not turned into road pizza.

I can intentionally get that same stuttering if I'm accelerating, and also when taking corners at higher speeds. The vehicle hasn't lost traction, yet, but the software throttles the power to help ensure it. If I turn TC off, I can rip through the gears, traction or not, as well as slide the Bronco around corners with the wheels spinning but no stuttering in the power.

My Nissans, Mercedes, and BMWs have all done this.

Mine does this sometimes and I have the FP tune and run 93 octane (2.7 with 20k). So it must be the transmission or traction control. After I drop my kids at school- getting back on the main road is dicey. A few times it really didn’t want to go, so I pushed hard on the throttle. After feeling like it would cut off (like it’s not getting fuel) it finally decides to go and chirps the tires. It’s really strange and can be dangerous in areas with heavy traffic and you have to go hard to get out.

My BAD SAS does this same exact thing and I had wondered if I should take it in to have looked at. I notice the choppiness when city driving with lots of stop signs. It definitely feels like it loses a split second of fuel delivery when it goes from gears 1 to 2 to 3. I do a more light feathering of the accelerator pedal for a smoother ride in that circumstance. But, I'm going to read up more about the FP tune now to see if it's something I want to try.

I had a similar issue after filling up the tank on my 23 black diamond. I made the mistake of continuing to press the lover after it initially popped, trying to top it off. I later learned that topping off these vehicles can cause some sort of issue with the pollution control devices that caused the car to misfire Which resulted in a sense that it went into limp mode while on the highway. It resolved itself once fuel level in the tank drop down a bit.
My father in law used to do the same thing in his 2008 F150, '99 Caravan, and '19 CR-V; it took a lot to convince him that the EVAP system could be causing the issues, mostly because he was over fueling it.

The only times I have experienced this is when the engine hasn’t warmed up a bit. It’s plenty hot now where I live, but I prestart to give it a few minutes to warm up. I don’t use eco mode, but when I have it occurs.

It's just the shit 10 spd. Not a learning thing, they're just a really awful transmission.
The Ford 10-speeds are something else.

I didn't realize how much of a POS the trans is in my '19 F150 until I got my JL Rubi with the ZF 8-speed. Ford should take serious notes.

Mine does this. Goes away when I put it in eco mode. I wish I could just automatically default to eco on start up since I'm mostly doing in town driving (mainly so this doesn't happen - not because I would expect better gas mileage).
