As has been s
Moble1 "Extended Performance" Full Synthetic. The package says it's good for 20,000 miles, but...really? Even if it were that good, am I going to leave an oil filter in service that long?

I changed it at 41K with the Mobile1 filter, and plan to change it at 50K. So if it's supposed to be good for 20K, I figure 10K should work out.

Thoughts, comments, criticism?
Good oil. As has been stated, any oil meeting Ford’s spec will be fine. As to interval, I’m old school. I change it myself every 3000 miles. Is this too frequent? Maybe. However, my perspective is ā€œoil is cheap,ā€ and changes are more convenient than an engine.

There are some oil filters like the FRAM Endurance that can last 20K miles, but there is no oil that will last that long in these Ecoboost engines. Fuel dilution which causes viscosity and TBN reductions will make it unserviceable long before you hit 20K miles.
Thanks for the response: my "sediments," exactly.

I think 10K for a change with the best filter with built-in webbing reinforcement will do. I ordered a Mobile1 filter off Amazon, but the vendor was slow in delivering, so I bought one from a parts store. Later, interestingly, the vendor delivered: a Mann HU 718/5X! I looked into it; turns out it's the Mercedes OEM filter. So I'll just save it for my 50K.

Interesting how powerful opinions on oil and filters can get. Check out

I use the Motorcraft Synth Blend every 5k. I've been running that in my 07 F-150 and it's about to hit 350,000 miles, but it has a natural aspiration motor with no turbo.

I’ve still got about 8 no cost oil changes with my dealership; Motorcraft full-synthetic, and I never let the mileage hit the mark, so usually at 4500. These were part of an extended maintenance package I haggled at purchase and like the savings from this deal.

Now, once these are done I do have a decision to make. I’m a lover of Amsoil, but with frequent changes that I may do myself, not sure it’s worth the extra expense for it.

Just be sure to review the old thread with the proper Ford spec oils and only use those no matter which brand you choose. Weird to me it would matter, but seems to and I don’t play around with engines. I do plan to keep my 2.7 Bronco for as long as it’ll ride.

I was curious what brand of Full Synthetic 5W30 brand people are using and if Full Synthetic should be used or it would be best to use the Motorcraft Synthetic 5W30.
I’ve always used Mobile 1, and change by the oil monitor, If you were to do oil analysis, it would probably be good to 20,000 miles. But with warranty I’d go by ford oil monitor.

With the location of the oil filter on the 2.7, it seems like the filters could be swapped without an oil change.

We own three new Fords with turbo motors and I went the full monty in my opinion. Amsoil $$$ used in all three. We have the Ford dealer service the wife's Expedition here in the driveway using Amsoil, Only because I don't want to crawl under it . The Wildtrak and F 150 are much easier to service with the height.

How many send their oil out for testing to see how long you can actually go? On my NA 3.5 Explorer (sold to buy the Bronco at 150k) I tested it a few times at 10k and there were still additives left and everything looked good so it could have gone longer. On my F150 3.5TT at 10k the additives were about used up so I backed off to 7500 miles for premium synthetic and 6k for standard synthetic. I have my own opinion and standards on what I consider premium and standard, purely my opinion with no data behind it so I will keep it to myself. I use Blackstone for my oil testing.

Have you confirmed the dealer and tech are actually using the Motorcraft Full-Synthetic? My direct experience with Ford dealers in GA and FL is that the oil tech was running the wash rack last week and has zero clue what they're pouring into your engine. Both type and weight. Non Turbo Ford's use 5w-20 Semi Synthetic, some techs don't know the difference. Once I watched the tech pour 5 quarts of 5w-20 Semi Synthetic into my Focus ST. I stopped him at the 5th quart and looked at me like I was from Mars when I questioned why he was pouring the wrong oil into my car. He said all Ford's use this. Read the cap, genius, it clearly states 5w30 right on it and I specifically specified Full-Syn on the write up. I watched as he drained out the wrong oil, sent a runner to another location to get the correct oil and completed the procedure properly. Frankly, I don't think Ford does a good job in this area at all and my confidence in most of their dealers is less than zero.

Amsoil signature, I have unused Amsoil in all my gas vehicles and small engines since 2001.
Numerous vehicles with over 100k several Ford Ecoboost vehicles.
Change every 15k with their filter. Never had any issues.

I was a long time Mobil 1 user but have changed to Castrol full synthetic. My oil change interval is around 6-7k. Cost was my only reason. Used to use Castrol dino oil back in the day.

Of course I have. I'm usually standing right there in the bay with them when they have the bottles out and adding it.

Not sure why it doesn't come in in a larger container, at least for this dealership, but they pour from the bottles that we would buy. It's noted on my profile and the order sheet "Full Synthetic" and on my receipt at the end.

I remind when making my appointments and when I arrive. The guys know me there now.

Didn't have to worry about this with my prior BMWs or my wife's SUV, as full synth is all they use, but with this Ford, I'm back to common territory and this standard blend is just odd to me.

I've been a Mobil One user since my 1985 Thunderbird Turbo Couple (back when Ford didn't approve the use of synthetic oils) and have never had an issue with any vehicle I drove. With my Bronco I have decided to use the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w30 and change every 5000 miles with a brand new Motorcraft FL oil filter...
