Fox 2.5 DSC Heavy Spring Advice

When you run in 4wd or under heavy acceleration does it still point to the sky? That’s the biggest complaint I have with the stock fox springs. Fox fumbled them and should make it right. It’s not like these coilovers were cheap.

I just stumbled on this thread. I have Fox 3.0's and I have the exact same issue! The rears are abysmally soft......I know I hit the bump stops with mine! I've called Fox and it's like dealing with a scientist with little concern but just wants the numbers.....and asking "oh, and did you play with the DSC adjusters?" They claim the stock Spring rates are 180 and that "some new springs are in development that are around 225" but don't know when they will come out. The rep I've been dealing with at Fox even thinks that 225 will be too soft, to which I said.....whats the point of selling too soft of springs, these coilovers are the price of a used car a few years ago!!

If anyone has questions I highly recommend working with Accutune. My case was atypical and I only ordered springs and adaptors from Accutune.

if I did it again I would have just purchased everything from Accutune,
Including their custom tune.

I've been working with Accutune this last week and I'm hoping what they recommend isn't too stiff and will get my height and ride sorted out. They have been good and responsive to work with.

I did talk to some Fox representatives at the Bronco Stampede last Friday and they told me they are coming out with a whole new set of coilovers with stiffer rates and valving. I asked about us the people who bought the current fox’s. One of the guys smiled and said have you adjusted the DSC. I said the DSC isn’t going to change the spring rate any. I then told them almost everyone on bronco6 using them has complained about how soft the rear is and how it squats when you go into 4a. They all laughed and said you need to wait till the upgraded fox’s come out. I just turned and walked off. It kinda pissed me off.

Dear Fox, after “cranking the DSCs” a test drive ended up with a broken brake line. A tow bill. And I have no Bronco now while having a beautiful week off staring at my Garage Princess.

How did your brake line break from compression adjustments? Not doubting, just trying not to make the same mistake.

Have the same problem

Spoke to fox about it over email, they believed the rear had the wrong preload set and that I should add more preload.

Picked up a set of spring compressors at harbor freight and even though doing this made me quite nervous, it was rather easy. I didn't remove the wheels and raise up the rear enough to fit the clamps then tighten by hand, lowered the rear a bit, tighten clamps again by hand, until I felt I had enough compression. Then raised the rear up again until spring came loose.

After loosening the set screw enough I was able to spin the preload by hand. I did this until it was nearly maxed out.

This is the result

only about 1/4in difference now (best I can do being a newb)

I also want to mention that Fox told me that there was no upgraded spring available nor "any planned to my knowledge" (their words)

Satisfied for now, but any concerns running max preload on the rears?

The rep you had was misinformed. They’ve release two springs. One black one silver. They’re .5 inches talller and 225lb spring rate instead of 185lbs.

I figured, but I asked multiple times in my email with them. Was the same answer each time.

I also only see the springs I linked above which states 500lbs not 225lbs, and not available yet unless I'm mistaken.

Spring rate is 225lbs static load is increased by 500lbs.

Pre-load is adjusted but I do not have it cranked down. It rides much better with higher spring rates because it's not cranked. I do have the high speed adjustment turned up because I do not use sway bars, I have Antirocks front and rear. My Fox shocks were VERY soft from the factory, Accutune got me dialed in.

nice, thx for the info, mine definitely is soft and rides much better with max preload on the rears, but I was planning to add more weight to the rear so I'm either going to install the eibachs or im hoping fox does the right thing and sends us the upgraded springs.

If you call Accutune and let them know what you have and what you are adding, they will get you the correct springs. It's not a one-size-fits-all situation; it depends on your weight in the front and rear. It's worth a free call to them; they are the experts. My rig rides excellent on the street and off-road, I could not be happier for how little I spent with them.
