Regarding this issue, I spent an hour on the phone with Mallory a Ford Customer Service rep who was also communicating with their Software Team while I was on hold. Mallory said Ford's Software Team was unaware that the "Enhanced Window Operation" software update on 9-12-2024 eliminated the window .25" rolldown with the Key Fob and the update was to reduce window wobble. Also, Ford Customer Service has not received any complaints about this issue. The call ended and The Sofware Team would trying to look into this matter.

What really upsets me is that my $70K late model 2023 Wildtrak 2-door came from the Ford factory with this feature, and I use it all the time since we have frameless windows, and the Software Team will try to look into this matter. I consider this a warranty issue that needs to be resolved. Funny thing is the dealership I spoke to today to try to set the modules back to factory spec does not know how they would get paid on a warranty issue that does not exist in Ford system.

Ford, can you help ?

Yeah unfortunately there’s nothing the dealership can do. They can’t pick and choose updates to install. There is no ā€œsetting the modules back to factory specsā€. They can only download and install the newest update.

The only way it will ever return is if Ford releases another update in the future to reintroduce that feature. But I don’t see that happening since they claimed it was causing issues.

No, no. The glass needs to tuck up under the top of the door seals (frameless windows). Pretty well all cars with such have a nudge down feature on unlock and door open. It prevents undue stress and (very annoying) vibration of the window moving past the seal that blocks its path. It was a common complaint that the Bronco did not have the nudge feature for a very long time (year/years?).

So Ford got it into new Broncos and then rolled out the feature to existing Broncos.

Now, apparently, they have botched the nudge feature so badly it must be removed for all.

:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:
Never rolled out to my 2021. Window operation has remained as it was delivered. Windows drop once you crack the door open, obviously dragging against the upper seal. Upon closing they return to full up position but never ever dropped before pulling door open.

But I have to say I do not recall ever using keyfob to unlock or lock my vehicle. It unlocks when I grab the door handle and I use the lock button on the door when I exit

this. Why am I pulling my key out of my pocket at all? Makes no sense.

This update finally showed up for my 2024 Everglades two days ago. Now every time I start the vehicle I get a message that it needs my permission to do an important update.

Its getting annoying and I don’t plan on allowing the update.

I just checked; my windows nudge down when I hit the unlock button on the remote. '23 OBX.

They do NOT nudge down when I trigger the unlock via the door handle. They come down only once I trigger the door to open.

Unfortunately, Ducati1098 is correct. Just picked up the rig from the dealership where they were going to try to set the window module back to factory spec. However, the new software update replaced that factory setting to the new one and they can't go back unless I have a saved copy of the original on a hard drive or flash drive.

Ford's customer service number is (833) 389-0848 if you would like to request we get the feature back. Apparently, I am the only complaint they received on this matter.

Cheers

I find it nearly impossible to believe the responsible Ford software person/team are not fully aware of the current situation and the relevant history.

The feature, required as far as any frameless window systems I am aware of, was oddly absent, then was brought to new vehicles and to already sold vehicles by a software update. Then, due to published problems/difficulties, not well explained by Ford, the feature has been removed.

I suppose it can't hurt to call and make this request and I will. That said, I strongly suspect such requests go into a queue invisible to the aforementioned person/team...

I called. They do not accept feedback for new software features. However, when explaining my issue, they did say that this feature will be added back into software sometime soon. As we know, they botched the rollout of the feature, causing some unexpected consequences.

I despise OTA updates. Driving my Bronco is like owning a PlayStation with wheels. Every time I want to play a game the damn thing says it needs an update.
