The Ford 10-speeds are something else.

I didn't realize how much of a POS the trans is in my '19 F150 until I got my JL Rubi with the ZF 8-speed. Ford should take serious notes.
They're sooo bad. I've got a 10 spd F150 at work too and I hate the trans in it just as much as the Bronco. I had a loaner Ram for a couple weeks with the 8 speed and agree it's way better than any of the 10 speeds. Ford should be embarrassed.

I do not understand what you guy's problem with the transmission is.....

Somebody explain it to me.

My experience is that the torque curve on the 2.7 is too peaky in stock form. It does not match well with the shift points. The transmission is fine for me. The Procal tune flattened the torque curve up higher. Took a lot of the "peakyness" out. Now it matches up well with the shift points. It smoothed out all of those shifts. In fact I would say the 10 speed matches up well now.

With the exception of the occasional harsh cold shift from 1-2, I absolutely love the Bronco 10-speed. Coming from a 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport, the matchup between transmission and engine in that platform is absolutely abysmal even after having the transmission TSB performed by Toyota. The constant up and down shifting drove me nuts... One of the main reasons I left the Tacoma. After test driving the Bronco for the first time, I had a huge grin on my face and just thought... Yes, thank you Ford!

The problem is the internet telling them 10 speeds bad!
When in reality, the issues that it used to have, have already been fixed.
Also this was mainly for the 10R80, the 10R60 has never really had any major issues.
Ford's biggest issue with the 10 speed is lack of quality programming, but even that has gotten better over time.

You are echoing my experience... I guess I am an outlier, I form my own opinions, Some people like red, I like a mix of colors. I know, I am old and weird.

My BAD SAS does this same exact thing and I had wondered if I should take it in to have looked at. I notice the choppiness when city driving with lots of stop signs. It definitely feels like it loses a split second of fuel delivery when it goes from gears 1 to 2 to 3. I do a more light feathering of the accelerator pedal for a smoother ride in that circumstance. But, I'm going to read up more about the FP tune now to see if it's something I want to try.
Hi there, Jamie. This choppy start-up doesn’t sound like something we want you to experience with your Bronco. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to look into how I can assist you on my end. Don't get me wrong, 10 speeds had their fair share of issues when released. Mainly the 10R80 which still had a fatal flaw that wasn't revised until around 2021, so I think the majority of the 10 speed's bad name comes from that.
But naturally every one thinks since it had problems, they're all just garbage now.

Mine does this. Goes away when I put it in eco mode. I wish I could just automatically default to eco on start up since I'm mostly doing in town driving (mainly so this doesn't happen - not because I would expect better gas mileage).
Good afternoon! I would be glad to help you out with this choppy launch concern should you need any further assistance. Just shoot us a private message with your VIN and dealer name/location, and I'll get right on it. To send a private message, just click on our username and select "Start Conversation". Thank you!

But like you said the 10R60 is a different transmission. Similar design but different. It has a good track record so far. I find that people are funny. It is like condemning all Fords because the pinto had a bolt on the back of the differential that would puncture the gas tank in a rear end collision, and that by default and association makes all Fords faulty. LOL.... These are people that do not turn a wrench and struggle to assemble an Ikea coffee table.

Yup, when cold it'll feel like a split second stumble at the first to second shift. Goes away when warm though.

I'm sure the Ford bot will ask for my nearest dealer so they can direct me there for help... because they care.

You tuned it, and solved the main issue with the 10-speeds: terrible OEM programming.

My F150 is out of warranty entirely at the end of July, and I will be addressing my dislike with a tune as well. Hope that does it, and that the fatal flaw doesn't rear its head ('19).

Mine does the same, choppy hesitant from a stop weather the Auto Stop Start is on or not. Way worse if the ASS is on. Looking into a tune that will correct it. Sure would be nice if Ford just updated the crap tuning from the factory. Hell, just make a 2H sport tune....

I would like to take a closer look at your driving performance concerns. Could you please send over a message with your VIN and estimated mileage so I can look into this on my end?
I have this same concern with my 2.3L. It lurches/hops in the lower gears and the power on/off no longer functions. One time it completely slipped and it felt like I had my Bronco in neutral. Could I send you my VIN and mileage (under 10k as well)?

Yep, now that you mention it, mine acts the same, I attributed it to the 10 speed, although my wife’s Explores does not act the same way, even though it is a 10 speed as well!

My 22 wildtrak would leave me hanging while trying to cross busy roads. It made me long for a v8. I came across a good deal on a tune and now I don't have that problem. Sucks that you spend 50k+ on a vehicle and then have to fix issues like that.
