I used the electrical shrink tubing method, applied heat with a heat gun (hair drier will also works), and it has worked well for me for a couple of years now.
I installed the ARB cover. Solid cover, easy installation with no extra hardware required at a good price point. I added the two hose clamps for added piece of mind.

Yes, the cover will definitely provide added strength and I'm using the dipstick after first scribing a line on the dipstick that corresponds to the appropriate stock fluid level. I followed the guideline in the ARB installation sheet to align both covers first.
