Looking for new tires - specifically either the MT Baja Boss A/Ts or Baja Legend EXPs. The only place in my area that I can buy through and then mount them is Discount Tires. What has everyone's experience been using them? I just don't want to get my Bronco back with nicked up rims, a tire wobble / misalignment, or the beauty rings to be put back on incorrectly.

Has anyone ever bought tires and had the dealership put them on as an alternative?

thanks

I don't know much, but Discount Tire is apparently a franchise, or run like one. So results may vary. We have one shop in our area that's not liked much....another is. So check with folks in your area.

Cannot speak highly enough about Discount Tire! Price match, veteran discount, guaranteed out in 45min service, but especially the after install service. Air up anytime you need, flat fix (as long as repairable) and replacement with no questions if you get the tire warranty. I have had a number of tires replaced and repaired by them. Always friendly. @Discount Tire correct anything I got wrong!

Discount has always been great to me from the different stores I've been at. In the small chance something does happen to one of your wheels they would likely offer to replace it. plus lifetime balancing and competitive pricing. the dealer will likely cost more and take longer. discount will get you in and out with an appointment. or they do walk ins.

As a general rule Discount is terrific. Great service, good prices. There is one location in my area that apparently has a bad manager, but all the other locations have been great.

The two DTs by me are excellent.

For the beauty rings be careful, those bolts are made out of the cheapest, lowest grade metal possible and will round off on you in a heartbeat.

They also have been installed cross-threaded from the factory, and can be seized from the factory.

Before you go, I'd recommend cracking them all loose, then snug them up.

Make sure you provide the torx bit to the tire shop too. IIRC it is a T45? or a T50.

It is questionable whether you need to actually remove the rings though, the last time I got tires, the shop did not need to remove them.

For years I had heard others rave about DT but we didn’t have any in our state. Finally they made it. About 7 minutes from my old house, lol. I really didn’t think there could be a big difference but quite honestly they made everyone else look like amateur hour. Clean, fast, courteous and normally the best prices. I’ve used them for tires on hot rods, trucks, SUV’s, etc.

They earned my trust from repeated good experiences and not just their name.

A few years back we moved out of state for a job. Now my closest DT is 1.5 to 2 hours away. I’m still torturing myself over wheel, tire and lift selection but once I figure it out I will order and make the drive or have them shipped to me. I just prefer going to the store though.

Thank you for your continued support! The beauty rings do not need to be removed to change the tires. Some folks may prefer to have them removed, so, to your point, a little bit of prep work won't hurt!

Thank you!! Not sure where you are currently located, but you can visit our Store Locator link on the website to see updated store locations. Keep your eyes peeled! We are always looking for more store sites to serve our customers.

In my experience, after they put the tires on, it's a good idea to check the rims and the whole job before you leave the store. If there's a problem, it's usually easier to get it fixed right away.

Discount Tire is the only place I'll purchase tires. Why? Locations everywhere in the Houston and surrounding area. I've had unexpected flats while across town and I Waze the nearest store and immediately head that way for service. They do my 5k 5 tire rotation and rebalance even though I return to my dealer every 5k for the oil changes and checkups. All this leads to a hidden value, my tires last longer than most others regardless of make or model. I'm sure I've purchased over 20 sets of tires for myself and my family over the years and I've never been disappointed in their service. Hint, either arrive early at opening time or call ahead to make an appointment!
