Figured I would switch the coaxial to a midbass woofer, but don't see many options available. Any recommendations?

Essentially it’s a mid bass if you bypass tweeter or cross over speaker at upper limits. Mid bass sucks in the Bronco. I’m planning a small thin woofer in front passenger foot well. Custom fiberglass enclosure. Until then I have mine doing ok with a DSP. Only running kick panel from 80 up to 300hz +/-. Anything higher drags soundstage down. If you insist on kick panels just don’t skimp on the speaker.

Check out Fosgate, Audio control, Focal. Mostly run of the mill until you get into big money drivers. Just use a high quality coax or separate and ditch tweeter.

I have a Kicker KS there, but it's really not adding much to the front stage, which is why I decided to switch to a woofer to add some bass up front.

You won’t get much in that location. Good driver and lots of power.

There's a 2dr lifted blue truck on here...iirc he has JL 6" midbass drivers in that spot with some custom housing, complimented by some HS10s under his lifted front seats. I'll see if I can find it.

I installed Kicker KSS6.5 in kick panels. After install realized I was getting a lot of blow-by around enclosure. I ended up lining entire kick enclosure with Killmat paying particular attention to the holes and slots where wire connectors and door jamb panel anchors are. After doing that it sounds great. But because on base 6spkr system front kicks and dash are tied together will get better sound with some blockers on dash 4”.

i have a pair of the Memphis MJP6's in there. I think it sounds good and definitely adds to the midrange. I have the B&O package, so I didn't do any bass blockers for the dash speakers, and I like it. I didn't bother upgrading my sub, so I think this keeps me happy enough that I don't feel I need to do that.

This right here! I've been wondering about this for some time! I have replaced the dash with Infinity, and noticed a substantial difference. I thought about doing woofers in the kicks, and switching the rear pods to 6.5 2 ways, and adding a sub and amp in the deleted spot. I'm anxious to hear every ones input on the woofer debate. Thanks OP for starting this thread.

Curious about your kick panel speakers - just completed my upgrade with the exception of kick panel - mainly since everyone said upgrading kick panel without an amp would be fruitless...but looking at the memphis speakers you have also - with a 100db efficiency they have to do reasonably well using just he stock B&O amp. Do you have an amp or just using B&O?

I am just using the stock B&O amp, with the stock subwoofer. I did add poly and kilmat to the sub enclosure, but never did the amp upgrade. I do think its a good middle-ground without doing the amp, so its worth a shot to see if you like it imho.

I have the Hertz 100.3 speakers in the three dash locations and the Memphis MPJ6 in the kick panels. using the stock B&O amp. They speakers took a little while to wear in, but it was a big improvement in sound over the oem speakers

You could just get a 2-way component set and only use the woofer. But if you go that route, the tweeter will be miles better than the stock 4" speaker so you might as well use that also. You will need more power to get any real performance from a 6.5" driver in the kick panel. And good, clean power. I would not try to drive a kick panel woofer with a Kicker Key or the B&O amp.

That is what I did, 2-way component and just used the woofer and paired them with 4" 2-way in the dash. Sounds great with power from my 5 channel amp.

Yeah - I was afraid of this when I started down this path - yeah right, I'm just gonna replace some speakers --oooh look an amplifier, oooh look more speakers. So here I am looking at MJP6s for my kick panel now. LOL I'll report back when I'm done. On a side note with the system as is - I find myself looking for excuses to go for a ride - can't wait to hear it with the roof off, that'll be the real test.
