Drove around the yard. 20" was a snoozer for the beast, even with snow flying over the hood.

Fresh powder is sooooooo fun !!!!!!! 😁

Now the question, to powder coat or not???

I like the silver ring on a black wheel.

Rock rash will make them silver. 😁

Yes they will!!
The rings on her now have the scars to prove it!!!
It is nice how even the beauty rings protect the rim from damage.

Yeah, funny how Ford kinda backed into that, huh?
Yes, funny, everyone wants different rims, i like these, and that is one of the reasons, and the bead lock capable of course!

I won't miss them, but right now I don't mind them.

So the photos aren't IG worthy, but they suffice to show the grill swap that I did yesterday. I have a Black Diamond with capable bumper and an OBX HIGH package with modular bumper. End result is the OBX grill on the Black Diamond - a combination that likely will never be seen. And vice versa - Black Diamond grill with front camera on the OBX.

Love it!! Been looking to do this for some time(I know that sounds convenient given your post). Always loved the look of BD retro style grill. Closest style to the original on the β€˜75.

If I may ask…what issues, if any, will I run into with an OBX grill w/ camera to BD grill?

There are two horizontal plastic pieces between the "O-N" on the BD grill that will need to be trimmed (Dremel makes easy work) in order to accommodate the camera shroud. If you don't have the 360 cameras, it is a direct swap. BD only comes with MID (no front camera). My OBX has the HIGH package with front camera. The valiance on the back of the grill is the same between the two. I unscrewed the valiance on each and swapped them so I didn't have to mess with the camera, wiring harness, and plumbing.

Now to get into the weeds that most don't give much thought too, there were aesthetic reasons for doing so. The capable bumper has smooth curves, round fog lights, round-ish tow hooks, and the PC finish is actually darker than the modular bumper. The modular bumper has a slightly lighter color PC and the angular lines and fog pockets was incongruous with the glossy, smooth pill grill openings on the OBX. The two (modular bumper/OBX grill) have a contrasting aesthetic. Whereas the angular grid of the BD grill contrasts with the smooth, round lines of the capable bumper. And the MIC gray surface of the BD grill is an exact match on the PC of the modular bumper.

Overall, by swapping the grills, I achieve harmony in the design aesthetics. While also buying myself some time as the end game for me is to get a Heritage grill painted (properly and not how Ford does it from the factory) with illuminated grill letters spelling LUNA. The Heritage grill will replace the BD grill on the OBX. But that job will probably be close to $1.5k when it is all finished and it can wait as I've already chopped down the money tree in my backyard.

I Changed the oil and rotated the tires. I also once again heaped curses onto the Ford engineering team behind the location of the oil filter on the 2.3 and all the extra stuff that they put in the way of changing it. It's just plain stupid.

I'm coming up on oil change 3 and getting better at it. Things could have been laid out better, but I'm just thankful the 2.3 has a normal plug and canister filter as opposed to the 2.
7.

Oh, this was my 2nd time doing it myself and I had it down pretty well, but it still sucked. I think what I'll do next time is just assume I should pull the front wheel and the wheel liner. That should make it super easy. It's just stupid; that's what needs to be done. I mean, if it were a BMW or Audi, I'd understand having to take it half apart. But it's a Ford.
