Local dealer is getting an Orange Raptor in soon. I have a Badlands Non SAS with 6k miles. My salesman is working hard for me to get the Raptor, which I would love to do. Of course the dealer markup is ridiculous but salesman says he feels confident in getting a monthly down low enough for me to make the purchase. I call BS because essentially buy a Raptor is like buying 2 Badlands at the same time. I can afford a higher payment but not by much.

WHat are the thoughts of those of you here on this. Is my salesman pulling my leg (which I am leaning to), but I’m sure y’all know more than me.

Salesmen will tell you anything to make a sale. Don't buy a $100,000 bronco. Those are for cash folks. Keep what you have and enjoy it.

Yeah, I am feeling the same way. Just doesn’t make sense to me. I love my Bad, however wish I got the SAS version haha

The Raptor is absolutely worth a significant premium over other models, but individual finances trump all. Being car poor sucks and the totality of fun/joy/how ever you define it is already very high on any bronco trim.

I never think of cars in terms of just payments. I want to know what it costs.

All that being said, Raptors can be had with minimal or no ADM, especially compared to MY23 or MY24 sticker. ADM will likely fill the gap in the production window sticker vs current order price.

What are the asking for it?

Dude, never shop for cars when the consideration is monthly payment.

Seems like you know what they’re asking. Plug those numbers into an online auto loan calculator— that’s your answer.

$125K for a Bronco? Nope.

$98k msrp, with a 25k markup
99.9999% of the time I don't tell, care, or concern myself with other people's money. In this case, I will just say that with effort, and patience you can find Raptors for $95k ("used") - 105k (new).

Once I decided I wanted a Raptor, I also decided what configuration compromises I would allow and what I would spend.

Took me a couple months, a 500 mile flight + 2hr drive to the dealership then 8hr drive home to get accustomed to my new Bronco but I met all my criteria.

Sounds like you are getting the advice you needed to hear. There is nothing about a Raptor that will overcome financial regret. It should be something that makes you smile, not give you anxiety about the payment.

There are always things out of reach. If I could afford a Barbus G-Wagon, I would have one of those too 🤣

Oh he might get your payment down, but you will be paying for 8-10 years and likely will NEVER see positive equity.

You can get a 10/15/20yr note and afford anything at your monthly limit. Don't let the dealer snooker you into a bad financial decision due to manipulating the one number you think matters (maximum monthly payment). This is almost always a way get you into high-cost financing you'll be paying for for literally years and decades. And remember, the insurance on a beast like a Raptor (heavier/taller so it does more expensive damage, more expensive to buy out or replace parts) is going to be a financial hit.

Work on sensibly updating your ride. Maybe after spending some time/effort scoping out MSRP deals for the same Raptor you're eyeballing. Mainly, take a deep breath and a break before making a decision. Sales people are only on the side of making a living, try to live at or below your own means by knowing what they are and where you stand.

Do not limit yourself to a local purchase. I made a 1300-mile drive to get my Raptor at MSRP.

I cringed at the monthly payment comment. Just no. You didn't ask why? He's going to balloon finance that sob into infinity and you'll be paying another 25k in interest, so it'll be 150k all said and done in 8 years.

Agreed with everything ThatWilsonGuy said and I also never comment on other people's money so I'll tell you my experience. I paid about $10K ADM for my Braptor, flew to CO and make a vacation out of it driving back home with my girl. I've had and still have many high end cars, including many BMW Ms, Porsche Turbo, McLaren, Audi R8, Plaid, etc. and never have I paid ADM for any of them so here I am paying ADM for a Ford. I thought I will regret this decision but what the hell - YOLO. After the driving home vacation, taking it out on the trail side by side with my Wildtrak (first day order, no ADM) I now have no regret and, to me, it is literally twice the enjoyment I get from Braptor compared to the WT. I'm glad I felt that way because it was almost twice the cost of the WT. I now find myself driving the Braptor all the time, weekends, daily, etc., over all my other cars so ultimately, it was worth it for me and I'll do it all over again.

Everyone has a finance/happiness spending scale. What does that scale look like for you?

BTW, look at the Porsche guys - $50K, $75K, $100K ADM but these cars are selling and I'm sure plenty of those owners are happy!

Good luck and hope my comments helped!
