You could always try the updated switch. I'm just not sure what exactly was changed.
However it may work, because the trim panel that it goes into was never updated from what I can see.
The part number for that switch is N2DZ-2B623-AA
maybe the new one doesn't break so easily?

One time the wife and I went to the auto show and she sat in one of them newfangled Land Rovers when Ford built them, tried to pull some lever on the dash while she was in there and the whole bottom of the dash fell out on the floor wires and fuses everywhere. She quickly got out embarrassed and a few minutes later we saw the Land Rover representative over there shaking his head and trying to fix it. Before long they were four or five people there trying to fix the dash that we had yanked out we stopped back by about 2 hours later on our way out the door after checking out the rest of the show and they had the doors all closed up on it and I went over and peeked in there and the dash was still laying on the floor. This is overuse of plastic junk has to stop it seems like things get cheaper and weaker constantly

you'd have to tear apart the area near the interior fuses to heavy up the structure to mount a metal replacement 'switch'. someone's still going to go full gorilla and tear out the switch. (it's happened several times at Off-Roadeo NH on the standard switch)

i like the electronic brake switch design in my golf.
it's got a skinny little bar to lift that's clearly designed to require single finger forces.
If something comes to market, I'll be similar to the Mustang's drift brake, just a lever activating the electronic rear calipers.

$60 for a 5 cent piece of plastic?
It was the complete unit, multiple plastic pieces and some electronic stuff. The full parking brake assembly.

What part are you talking about? When the thing breaks, it isn't usually just one piece of plastic.

So if the pull level snaps off is it possible to engage/disengage the parking brake at all? Can you poke or pull any actuator inside that hole? I wonder if a completely different mechanism could be wired in, like a center return rocker switch.

Went to Off-Roadeo in NH last month and they had a whole tutorial on using the parking brake specifically because so many people tear out the switch.

Honestly, Ford could have done a better job engineering this. Since it's electronic and not a manual brake, it should have just been a regular button or switch. Instead, they attached a flimsy piece of plastic and labeled it "pull" which, to most people, implies force.

Yeah, I'd be 3D-printing that.

Does anyone know if there is an easy fix or part number for a new one?

It's your lucky day!

Ford just released a brand new TSB today for 2021-2022 Broncos built on or before 9/18/22
for a broken parking brake switch.

TSB 23-2162
It looks like they will replace the whole trim panel if needed and use the newer switch. So this should be covered under warranty, and it looks like these parts are available.

Okay. Not going to argue with you. Feel free to google the part number and pull up the 20-30 places that lists it for $10-15.
Retail price from Ford is $16.87.

The newer switch for vehicles built after 9/16/22 is much more at $71.45
damm that is quite the price jump

Yeah, the price difference is probably because the part is in the process of being superseded/replaced by the new one. Which also explains why the older switch is on backorder with no availability.

You’re awesome! Thank you for this info!! My brake just got broken off today by a porter at the dealer!! I told them give it to me, I can deal with it I will just leave it in first gear and turn my tires to the curbs until the part comes (i’ve been without for a week while they warranty worked my brake vacuum hose and front drive shaft) in which they obviously already said they would fix. Now I can ask for the new updated one.

Are there 2 different versions too? Some pull up where other pull down. Mine goes down. Figured because the Bronco was a manual it might be different? Seen both posted on here over the years.

I think this was the reason they changed it. People were ripping the switch off accidentally thinking it was the hood release lever lol so the new switch pulls down instead of up.

I still don't get why it's not a button on the center console like every other electric parking brake I've used. I'll pay good money if someone developes a piggyback switch and harness.
