Shakes on the Interstate

New non-sas Badlands, 2.7, AT KO2 Tires. After it arrived, I had my Ford dealer put on the Badlands optional wheels I separately ordered.

Issue: Speeds on the interstate up to about 65 mph are smooth, but when I hit 70 mph and above, the vehicle gets a rather vibrant shake to it. Anybody else have this experience? Could it possibly be a wheel/tire balance issue?

Could be a balance issue, could be a tire issue, could be a wheel issue.

I would probably bring it back to them.

It's an issue, start with wheels and tires, but there should be 0 shake all the way to the speed limiter.

I have the same problem and I thought retorquing the lugnuts helped but it didn't.
Also had the tires rotated, alignment done, and wheels balanced twice. Still occurring.

I suspect it's something else. I am going to bring it to Ford and have them deal with it. I'm tired of it tbh.

I have some vibration at higher speeds sometime, but not always. having the front driveshaft recall done this week, so hoping that's what's causing it. It's not really bad, but I do notice it at times.

KO2’s can be notorious for vibrations depending on the balancing. My sons FJ took several tries to get it right. Not sure why they seem worse than others.

My BL non Sasquatch has no vibration. In fact I think it is scary smooth at high speeds.

I have the same issue. 22 BL Non-SAS and I switched to a set os SAS take offs . 70 seems to be the magic number for vibration.

I’ve actually noticed this too around 70 mph. But I have aftermarket nitto recon grapplers and aftermarket wheels.

I have a BL non-sas and have had both the OEM KO2 tires and Wildtrak takeoffs on the Bronco with no vibrations at any speed.

It drives exceptionally well on the highway IMO.

Hello all -- here is how the "shakes on the interstate" has played out in case helpful. I took it back to the dealer to rebalance, and they made it somewhat better the second time, but I still thought it vibrated too much at high speed. Today I took it to a new Discount Tire store in Birmingham - they rebalanced in about 45 minutes and completely fixed the issue -- the Discount Tire folks said the tires were still way out of balance after the two dealer jobs and remedied (and did not charge me!). FYI -- if you are having this issue, go to a tire and wheel specialist -- the dealer is not the place to go in my experience. So, end of story is that the K02 tires are running smooth now!

A correct tire balance from a legit tire shop usually remedies. Remember a SHAKE eventually turns into a DEATH WOBBLE. Dont just accept a shake. Take care of that ASAP! it's gonna happen on these highlifted rigs.
