That is a tender spring that king uses. Tender springs are designed to be almost completely compressed at ride height. They help soak up smaller bumps and help keep tension on the springs when suspension droops out. The lower spring is a heavier rate, it hold the majority of the vehicle weight and kicks in when you hit bigger bumps.
Sorry, but this is incorrect. The Kings use a true dual rate rear, with the top being a stiffer 500 lb/in spring. It is not a tender spring. Just a secondary dual rate to get the total rate where King wanted them given the total length.

Well, King did respond back and they indicated they had not seen this issue for the Bronco yet. I assume they will get back to me on which springs to buy and replace. I think the total weight of my "stuff" in the rear is about 100 lbs. I would just think the factory setting would have easily handle 100 lbs back there. Later today, I am going to remove the fridge and the drawers to see what the results will be. FYI the top spring is SPR 3-4-500 E22 and the bottom is SPR 3-14-350 E22. Looking at the King spring catalog, the top spring is the only one they offer, for the lower spring they offer every rate from 150lb to 700lb in 50lb increments.

Good to know
This is going to be helpful for anyone loading up the bronco.
Keep us informed with what spring rate they suggest

Perhaps it's the metric ton of stuff in the backend of your Bronco????

You need different springs for your kings
No, that's not it. Everything back there is made of carbon fiber.

Especially the roll-out trays and 12v cooler.

Wait, upon second view, they might be made of pure titanium or another material an F1 team would use. Probably at bargain prices.

King's customer service is great.

I got my front Kings in yesterday. Going to tackle the rear ones tonight. Going to watch closely when I level it out and see how mine end up.

So, I removed the fridge and both drawers and the rear did raise up about 1". I would say that the drawers and fridge combined for about 100lbs. I still have the shelf and fridge slide along with the base plate system installed. I am reaching out to American Adventure Labs to get a more accurate weight on the plate system, slider, drawers and package shelf. Once I get a more accurate weight, I will post up here and let everyone know what the solution from King will be.

I am guessing between 200-300lbs back there. The good news is that springs are cheap.

So, got a response back from American Adventure Labs. Total for the AAL stuff is 220lbs and the fridge is 38lbs. That is everything empty. So, Silver-Bolt, you win. You were right on target with your weight assumptions. I was way off. Anyway, about 260lbs sitting back there daily will definitely affect the springs. I am learning new stuff every day with modifying this vehicle. Once I get a recommendation from King, I will update this post.

All,

Below is the email I received from King Shocks. I guess the takeaway is if you are going to load up the back of your Bronco, be aware of how you set up your rear suspension. I plan on taking the shocks to my shop and have them move the coil stop nuts as recommended.

Engineering team got back to me and had some advice as they’ve encountered heavier Broncos already. We don’t make a heavier coil in that length. The 500lb coil on your shocks is what will work best. What can be done is to have the coil stop nuts, those silver rings that sit above the black divider, be turned to sit lower or right against the divider. This will allow the coil to lose some of the bind but will also result in lifting the rear up slightly. I’d recommend having a shop do this if you decide to go this route. The second option is to simply leave the top spring as is and let the shock ride completely on the bottom spring while the top spring serves to handle the weight of the vehicle.

You might have to check with eibach and see what they carry for that top spring
