Must be something wrong with your Bronco then because mine feels rock solid at speed.
Nothing wrong with my Bronco, but I'm also coming from a 16 Ford Focus Sport that felt like it was on rails at higher speeds

I have about 8,500 miles. Made 3 round trips, NY to NC (600 miles one way), and also enabled sport mode on my Badlands!
I use the cruise control to avoid unintentional excessive speed and the tickets that surely follow... :)
I just know where the cops hide

also, speaking of G-wagens, when I make it big…

95 is the cruising speed out here. Squatched Badlands has no issues with sustaining that for hours. I recall doing about 2400 rpms at that speed (probably closer to 2500 but the tach was reading 2.4). Not bad for the 4.70 gearing. As far as handling goes, these are wide open and well maintained highways in Nevada and I had zero concerns at those speeds. Smooth, tracks well, no drifting etc. I'd say as good as my 4Runner but nothing like the wife's Audi of course.
This is exactly the sort of answer I was looking for.

I think my tires are the biggest limiting factor, followed by wind resistance. And then the gearing puts me at a disadvantage too.

Nice to have a comparison with the 4Runner too.

Those are nice and not too far from where I grew up. Wish I had gone with an older gwagen but I was looking for some creature comforts for long highway drives.
I ended up with an exotic with 10 year old Mercedes electronics. Parts were expensive and the dealer didn't know how to fix it.

Well, the terminal velocity of a brick dropped from an airplane is right around 220mph, my guess would be a bit higher since the bronco is a tad slipper in drag coefficient if dropped nose first. But only a tad.

Just find a good indie garage but always ask the customers

One shop I went to would always leave you with another issue, go for an oil change and come back later x or go in for a big job and still doesnt bother with say spare plugs or the handbrake cable, Ill dm you who if you’re interested

So I noticed something on my drive home from work today. While looking at the mostly unused analog speedometer, I saw that it goes all the way to 120mph. by running the tach at 2000rpm, my Black Diamond 4dr 2.7L was doing about 66mph. That means it’ll go about 100mph at a little over 3000rpm, or 120mph at about 3600rpm.

But will it break apart before it reaches that speed?

What sort of mods do you guys think I’d need to do to hit 120mph in my Bronco?

Oh… it needs to be safe and on a closed track. Or maybe the autobahn.
If designing a vehicle to excel on pavement at high speeds, Bronco is not what you'd design. (In some ways it's the opposite of what you'd design.) What would you do for mods, lower it and somehow get rid of the brick shape?

In a straighter line you can do some high speeds in a Bronco, but other than on a lark, I'd get a vehicle designed with properties to excel at high speed on pavement. I drove a Bronco on pavement, and it was good for what it was. But I was happy to get in my sports car that excels on pavement for the drive home.

I was going to Mercedes Manhattan. Very convenient, very expensive. If only they were competent enough to repair the G...

I don’t think my Black Diamond can do it. It has the power, but not the stability.

I see some high end SUVs out here in Southern California that speed down the highway at 90+. But those things aren’t spec’d out to go serious off-roading. The Mercedes G class is the first to come to mind. Then there is the Land Rover Defender.

You can spec a Defender with 22” tires.
My current Acura RDX hits 0-60 in 6.5 which is pretty quick for an suv but I’ve never tried over 100mph.

I drove one of the early models of that car, back in the mid 2000s. That thing is more like a car than an SUV.

It really does. Handles really nice and has been my daily driver and family car. Excellent for long trips also. I plan to trade it in for the bronco when it arrives. Won’t miss the premium fuel requirement and wife plans to get a hybrid for family usage so I can rock this horse.

I’m fine with 100+ speeds. Just not sure my Bronco has to be the vehicle I do them in. The 101 was a test. No need for me to repeat it.

The RDX is not really a true 'suv'. You're not going to see those off-road in crawling territory....however, it's an amazing small all weather road vehicle! My wife used to have one...she loved it!

I finally started messing around with the GOAT modes and used Sport mode for the first time while driving-holy shit it really wakes the engine and shifting up on the Bronco vs normal or eco mode. I finally found all the power the 2.7L can make :)
