37” tire rubbing modifications

I thought I’d start this thread to share our suspension/tire/wheel combinations, and the issues and modifications you’ve done to resolve rubbing when fully locked and flexed out with 37s. Extra points for photos of the mods you did , as well as your flexed rig photos. If you have 37s with no rubbing issues or modifications by all means share that combo, but post your flexed photos.

I have a 4 dr FIrst Edition.
Suspension - Fox Coilovers, Camburg UCAs and trailing arms. (3” front lift / 1.5” rear)
Tires - 37x12.5x17 Nitto Trail Grapplers, which I believe measure wider than 12.5
Wheels - Method 0 offset

Rubbing issues on the forward crash bar mount, front end of factory rock slider, plastic at the back of the rear wheel well liner, plastic at the back of the front wheel well liner in reverse. I will post photos of mods as soon as complete.

Your tires measure 13.43" wide which is measured on a 10" wide rim.

If your rims are not 10's then your measurement will be different. But these tires definitely are wider than 12.50.

i was kinda joking because its Friday but pretty serious because there isnt much that can be done other than trim and remove crash bars.

Your tires measure 13.43" wide which is measured on a 10" wide rim.

If your rims are not 10's then your measurement will be different. But these tires definitely are wider than 12.50.

I have 9” wheels … but doubt that changes much, still phat Most people I see with this tire that know what they’re doing run a moderate negative wheel offset, like -12 . I just didn’t want the extra poke. If I can’t solve everything with some cutting I’ll change the wheel.

I agree … other with than with options that I probably wouldn’t choose for wheeling.

Interesting … totally gets rid of that useless big chunk of metal in the wheel well. I like it. !

I installed the clearance kit on my Bronco last weekend in prep for putting on 37's. Funny, I'm going the same setup as you. Camburg bits with Fox 2.5 and Nitto. I still just trying to decide on the offset to go with and wheels, but I'm leaning toward Icon Rebound pro, the "beadlock sort of" wheels.

Well since you did the clearance kit to delete the crash bar mount you‘re probably good with whatever offset you like. I knew that a neg offset wheel would help, but I didn’t want too much poke.

But I'm on 37s with no rubbing and only added a 1/4in spacer rest is stock. I will be testing at Windrock in a few weeks for the real test but so far so good. Looks like you’re running KM3’s ? If so those are a good choice to prevent rubbing, as they measure less than 37”

Not even interested in debating your UCA comment lol

And as a friend of mine says that races KOH ... he can make anything rub with enough speed

Updated first post to save time finding my flex pics on my build just to many and too much info to transfer.

Nice looking ride I hope this info helps. I have the JKS kit but haven't installed yet waiting to see if I have any rubbing while rock crawling first. But I am installing the front crash bar removal part regardless as you can see in my build I did the plastic at the back of the front wheel well liner a little different to fit my needs.

Yes, KM3 yes they come in less than 37in.

Wasn't trying to make a debate was just pointing out due to your UCA regardless things will fit a little different than mine.

100% with enough speed something is going to rub.

front end of factory rock slider, (I didn't explain a fix in my build but I did explain the cause)
Personally I would pull the plastic cap out cut an inch or so off and reinstall the cap be careful not to over heat when cutting or you will have to repaint. This was due to lift and poke.

I don't have any great pictures that show it installed on mine. The manufacturer has a good video that shows it better than anything I can post. I do have a few pics though from mine, hopefully they help. The only thing they don't say is that the bottom rear push pins that secure the inner liner don't work after. There is just to much pull from the liner with the location of the new brackets. I used zip ties in these few locations and that worked perfectly to really pull the liner out of the way. Also, you'll need to punch a new hole in the liner for one location that doesn't have an existing hole. I'd still say it's 100% worth installing the kit. Lastly, they tell you to trim off a piece of rubber that has a Christmas tree clip that goes into the frame part you trim off. I found that instead of trimming, you can fold it and put it into another random hole in the frame. This makes it so you maintain a wheel well to engine seal in that spot. Good luck, it's a fun project. Give yourself time and have a buddy there to help with the bumper.
