It’s stress at the door spot welds - we are pretty sure after mine made the rounds at my dealership. They are working on solving - have done everything short of replacing the gate which is Jeff. Worried it won’t matter. They have other Sasquatch that do not make the noise tho which was why I think they were so cool about replacing.Having the exact same issue. Sounds like the tailgate is overly stressed or those bump stops are not seating correctly to the tailgate. To me, the bump stops are very flemsy and should not be able to move around so easily. If you look at a jeep, those are rubber and mounted firmly to the tailgate. I am taking mine to the dealership to report.

As far as I know no fix yet besides just taking the spare offI have this exact noise, what was the fix
Same here. The noise went away on its own. Odd.Mine has slowly gotten quieter. Many drives I don’t even notice it anymore
Whatever it is probably rubbed itself into oblivion lolSame here. The noise went away on its own. Odd.
Any update? I’ve got the same thing driving me crazy…It’s stress at the door spot welds - we are pretty sure after mine made the rounds at my dealership. That’s the sound!!!! Annoying came in today at 600 milesI have this same problem and glad to finally find a thread with others - although the more people worries me they will claim normal. I've been to dealer twice and driven with service and techs in the back. they sent the below video to ford and everyone has acknowledged that it is not normal.
They told me Ford sent a few ideas of spots to lubricate and tighten. It's definitely in the cavity tho closed to the interior left side which is welded so they are running out of ideas - I want a new tailgate. The plastic panel does come off pretty easily though of course I have broken a couple tabs - the sound is exactly like the plastic screws pushing in and out a thread at a time but I pulled them all out and it didn't fix it so it is something else.
It can be replicated when I open and close the tailgate but it's most present driving over any road that isn't perfectly paved. - there is some level of stress or flex happening. The latest idea was the wheel/brake light mount screws which they said were loose but it did not fix it. They are keeping another day. Attached is a video of it when it was at its worst which is typically the mornings. it started after a few hundred miles for me as well.
Did you get this figured out? I have the same issueWas yours the same tick as the video I posted? It's very specific, inside the cavity and metal tick not any other material. We removed everything multiple times and have not been able to get the sound to stop.
Any update on this?Having the exact same issue. Sounds like the tailgate is overly stressed or those bump stops are not seating correctly to the tailgate. waiting for the badges to arrive but they ordered and painted a new gate for me - hoping it has better weld spots. I know it's possible cause it is not on others at their dealershipDid you get this figured out? I have the same issue
Funny you pointed to that noticed mine wiggle a bit but when I shake the tailgate I don’t hear the noise. Did this fix your rattle problem. I cannot see what you circled on the left sideOk, I noticed my noise about 500 miles ago, right about when it started getting colder. The noises were exactly like the videos posted earlier in this thread. What I found are the 2 pieces on top of the tailgate, and the one on the side near the latch move. If you push down and wiggle they pop. I've never seen this on my other vehicles, and why Ford didn't do a better job with how they are attached (top two), or materials used (feels like plastic instead of dense rubber) who knows.
The top two actually pop off easy, and I used some aerosol can fluid film and hit the back of the pieces and the nubs that attach it to the gate. While the passenger side piece was off I also sprayed fluid film down onto the inside bolts of the hinges for good measure. I didn't do the side piece as it was getting dark and it was attached differently with a plastic looking phillips head screw? So there was a few clicks but not every few seconds which I think is the one I didn't remove.
I don't think this will be all I do as they still move around quite freely. I don't think putting some PPF under there will help because I think the problem is the material used in the pieces. I might use clear RTV to make them stop moving, and it's not permanent. Maybe someone can make them out of some quality rubber and I'll buy them. Keep posting feedback, great community!
